I actually like it, although it is probably a bit over the top at times. Plus it has some insanely fast acoustic on track one or two.

I know this thread is dead but I've only just joined the site....

All of the above mentioned to be honest, my favs are:
appleseed cast, mineral, the promise ring

Im not sure if Pop Unknown were mentioned but they are amazing! Their EP is flawless!

also while not the same, you should try Dear and the Headlights and Texas is the Reason (if you don't have them already)

Australia has a couple of local scene's of bands making similar music to these bands!

In Sepia, Arrows are similar, also you might enjoy To The North, Quiet Steps

The UK has some really good bands going right now: Itch, This Town Needs More Guns, Jennifever, although the label most of these are on Big Scary Monster, doesn't always like to send you the merchandise. Order with care.

Other state side bands include; Waterpistol, Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate), and others on the same label are awesome.

I'm so glad somebody started a thread like this. Most of my favorites have already been listed but I can't stress enough about Mineral - Endserenading, Knapsack - This Conversation is Ending Starting Right Now, and The Appleseed Cast - The End of the Ring Wars (or Mare Vitalis or Two Conversations.) These cd's really changed how I was listening to music and opened up so many different bands to me.

I own all of the Emo Diary comps from Deep Elm and have found a lot of great bands thru them. Pop Unknown, Lewis, Logh, Jejune, Benton Falls, Desert City Soundtrack, Samiam, and tons of others.

If you haven't checked out Carissa's Wierd you should. Don't expect a Mineral rip off at all but I can kind of see how it fits in the same vein. Two of the guys who started Band of Horses were in that band. Very soft with a lot of piano and female back up vox.

Mike Kinsella's project Owen is also great. I know its more acoustic then some of the stuff you mentioned but I own all of them on vinyl and they definitely get played at least once a week. If you haven't heard it, start with "I Do Perceive."

Hot Water Music is another that doesn't directly fall into this but I got into it at the same time and it has some similarities. I really really like their album "Forever and Counting."

Lead singer from Knapsack has another band called The Jealous Sound that is amazing. Their debut album is superb and I saw a tweet saying they would be starting up the recording of their follow up next week.

I'm definitely checking out some of these bands when I get home tonight. Please keep the good lists coming!

I'm just going to self-promo my solo project, Autumn Arrested (http://autumnarrested.bandcamp.com/). I just released a new ep that's definitely Appleseed Cast and Jimmy Eat World (Clarity-era) influenced. Check it out, love/hate it. 'Sall good.

also, I've been straight addicted to this band for like a week.
