I cannot believe some of the things being said about this film here. I mean, I expected a cute, fun Pixar film with humor and fun for adults and kids, but the thoughts/opinions expressed here put this film into an entirely different dimension. My desire to see this is now topped with an extreme sense of curiosity and wonder.

Handy Man

no wonder why peoplem doubted it all from the start. strange. we always ask for something more, something different, and when it finally is brought, people receive it with wrinkled noses. the premise was great since the very first moment they published it. i cannot wait to check how they'll manage the silence within the plot and how bold they'll be. i'm expecting tears coming from my eyes. sounded corny? Hell I am.

I don't completely dislike it, it just lacks the charm and appeal of the other films. It has some great characters in it (the circus bugs are all funny), but the wit, the charm ... it's all not there. Still, not an overall bad movie, just a disappointment from Pixar.

None of Pixar's film are awful - far from - but Cars didn't capture me like the rest did. Maybe because Larry the Cable Guy had to be in there ... and I hate him, his voice, everything.

I'm going to rent A Bug's Life though and watch it again - I haven't seen in it years, and I think I deserve to give it another viewing as I prepare to shove my foot in my mouth.

I just don't want to get my hopes up super high. It's Pixar, so I trust it, but the lack of dialog seems like it could be a bit of a stopper. The fact that Pixar is taking such a risk with something like that in a market demographic of children probably means that the story is extremely strong.

I just don't want to get my hopes up super high. It's Pixar, so I trust it, but the lack of dialog seems like it could be a bit of a stopper. The fact that Pixar is taking such a risk with something like that in a market demographic of children probably means that the story is extremely strong.i really dont think you need much dialog in a childrens movie. there seems to be a lot of slapstick type humor in a lot of the trailers and i think that will keep childrens attention. especially for younger children who probably don't really follow the dialog anyway

Pixar is doing some heavy, heavy promotion for this flick. They've lined up around 20 free gifts on Facebook that people can give out to promote Wall-E and their other films. You'll be surprised how well Wanted will do this weekend.

I am not saying that Wanted will take it - but I am just saying Disney seemed to wait a little too long in promoting the movie on TV and stuff. I think Wanted has a bit more promotion going on right now, but I know what you mean about it being a Pixar. The simple truth is every pixar movie opens weaker these days. Both films have great reviews though (I'd rather see Wall-E), but Wanted is supposed to be "amazing" shit. So I'm just saying, it might be close..

popdisaster00

Wall-E will open on a lot more screens though, which should definitely mean something.

WordzandDreamz
06/26/08, 09:01 AM
I don't know how many more screens it will actually be on. The truth is that Disney was afraid of how this movie would do, hence the mega-advertising. My theatre and most others only got booked with 2 prints of it, the same amount of prints of Wanted that they are getting.

Adeniz19
06/26/08, 09:03 AM
Disney have been promoting wall-e longer than wanted has. I remember watching some of those little skits of him playing with a vacuum/hoola-hoop/basketball like a month ago on Disney channel.

Plus, with Wanted being R, i'm sure a lot of teenagers who could care less about Wall-e will buy tickets for it just to sneak into Wanted.

I can see Wall-E getting around 60+ this weekend and Wanted getting around 30+.

WordzandDreamz
06/26/08, 09:13 AM

that brian ordorf review is so back and forth. just in this one sentence he seems to be contradicting himself

This is the comfortable, reassuring padding that Pixar could accomplish with their eyes closed, with Wall-E decked out in full cute mode to help ease the audience into this bleak, post-apocalyptic world that few G-rated animated projects would dare consider.

and he seems to be shitting on pixar for the story too and saying an idependent studio should of filmed it... :-|

Most amazing visuals I have seen thus far in ANY animated movie. This really sets the bar for the rest of the animated films to come in the future. I also really liked the chemistry between Wall-E and Eve. The only thing I really didn't like was how they made it really political. Really, the whole political sub-plot really turned me off. And although I appreciate what they were trying to do with this I didn't like the inclusion of an actual person in the film. Kinda made the made the animation fell like it was animation, which it shouldn't be at all. But it goes up there with the rest of Pixar's best.

Holy shit.

Just got back from it, I don't think I've been this excited after seeing a movie in a very long time. Everything about it was incredible (besides Fred Willard, because I despise him) and I can't even say much more about the film because each and every one of you should see it for yourselves.

First time I've ever felt like everyone in the theater felt the same way about it. After the credits started rolling, I looked around and every single person had a huge, goofy smile just staring at the screen.

You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll fear for humanity (Axiom! Haha), but you'll love every second of it.

Weird, there wasnt a single kid in our showing; however, there was one douchebag a seat over from me who thought he was funny and wouldn't shut up in order to impress two chicks who were clearly not feeling him.

Haha. There were a bunch of teenagers at my theater who were loud as hell during the previews and even kind of loud during the short (which was really clever, for anyone wondering), but as soon as Wall*E made an appearance I heard no sounds from them AT ALL for the rest of the movie (besides laughing at the comedic parts). This movie had everyone captivated. It was really cool.

This is film that will make men cry and then admit it.
haha I really don't know how you can't feel something for the little guy.

The same thing happened at my theater--it was all teenagers and college kids, and they made all sorts of comments during the previews, but once the film started, nothing. It was amazing.
