Can you state your name and what you do in Between the Trees?
Brad: I'm Brad Kriebel and I play guitar in the band.
Where are you at currently?
Brad: Today were in San Francisco on the Warped Tour.
How did you guys sign with Universal Motown?
Brad: We went up to New York to do a showcase for Virgin records and Universal caught wind that we were showcasing and their A & R and the president of the label and they loved us. We had some meetings with them and their vision and our vision for the band matched up and it just clicked.
What was it like playing Warped Tour last year?
Brad: Last years Warped was awesome. We only played the first 10 days, which spanned out over about 2 1/2 weeks. We made a lot of friends and a lot of good connections.
And what are you guys going to do differently this year?
Brad: Well this year were on the whole tour. Some stuff fell through for us getting a bus so were out here in the van again but were working super hard and having a lot of fun.
What are you plans after Warped Tour?
Brad: We'll probably take like 3 weeks off at home to recover from the brutal summer were about to endure and then there are some plans for the fall but we cant really say anything yet. Its real hush hush.
Do you guys have any new material written?
Brad: we have about 5 or 6 full songs and then several Ideas for others.
Plans for a new record?
Brad: We can’t wait to get back in the studio. Right now Universal really feels there is some life left in this record. Were about to put out " White Lines And Red lights" as our next single and I think we'll be shooting a video shortly after warped. That’s the plan right now.
Who is your favorite band to tour with?
Brad: Tough decision. For me I really enjoyed touring with the guys in Sing It Loud. Great dudes. Our UK tour with The Rocket Summer was awesome too.
Who do you want to tour with but haven't already?
Brad: Oh man. The list is so big. Jimmy Eat World would be a dream come true for the whole band. I'd really like to do a tour with Anberlin. I've been a huge fan of them since back in the day and it would be awesome to get out with them.
What is favorite prank that has been done on tour?
Brad: Last summer on warped tour our old tour manager, Wes and I all got naked and jumped on our merch guy Bingham while he was asleep. It wasn’t pretty but it had to be done.
What's your favorite thing to do on tour?
Brad: I love finding places to go swimming or playing Frisbee.
Best place to hang out when you're home?
Brad: The Ale House by far. Best wings and nachos around.
How did you guys start working with To Write Love On Your Arms?
Brad: Our singer Ryan knew Renee when she was going through all of her stuff and she would call Ryan and confide in him and he felt like he couldn’t bear that burden alone anymore and he introduced him to our manager David McKenna. David let her live at his house for a few days and Jamie Tworkowski was his roommate at the time. That’s how Renee met Jamie and that’s how the entire organization was born. Jamie Wrote the story and printed a few shirts and sold them in Orlando to help fund Renee’s rehab. It quickly spread nationwide after that. We've been there since before the organization began and when it turned in to what it is now we just continued to support.
When is Jeremy getting married?
Brad: Jeremy will probably be getting married in May of 2009. Were all stoked. We love weddings haha.
What is your favorite summer activity?
Brad: Swimming, Going to the beach, Fishing, boating anything to do with water. I’m a Florida boy.
What is your favorite childhood memory?
Brad: When I was a kid my brother and I had a tent and he was chilling out in it and I decided that it would be cool to run from the outside and dive into the tent head first. I dove through the tent and my mouth went right into his forehead. One of my teeth shoved up into my gums. It was gnarly.
Any bands you want to plug?
Brad: Be on the look out for our best buds from Orlando There For Tomorrow. They recently signed to hopeless and they’re about to take over the world.
