Well, I've been following these guys since day one and I've been consistently impressed. A few songs didn't stick at first, but they've grown on me greatly (That California Song, Welcome to Life). 'Ready or Not' and 'Dear Lucian, Dance Forever' are jams, for sure. It seems like these guys are on their way to big things. So what do you guys think?

By the way, their EP is officially up on Smartpunk. Na its cool they rox my sox. Anyways does anyone ever know why Jason left Mayday to form Go Radio? From what I heard he left Mayday because he didn't want to play music anymore but then regreted that and form Go Radio. I'm I close or is this just rubbish?

I'm fairly sure that Jason left because he was getting married and trying to start a family, and the heavy touring following the release of 'A Lesson In Romantics' didn't permit a whole lot of time off. On top of that, there were supposedly some contractual issues with Fearless Records that were likely related to the touring issues. As far as I know, the guys are still on good terms though. He came out at one of their shows to perform 'Miserable At Best' a few months back, but that's the last he's had to do with Mayday. However none of this has ever been confirmed, it's just the strongest stuff being spit out of the rumor mill.

Check out 'Ready Or Not', it's their best song in my view, it has an awesome message and progression. But if you're looking for catchy, 'Dear Lucian, Dance Forever' is the ticket. Both solid tracks.

i mean it in the sense that mayday is mostly jasons music, as is go radio, so listening to the two is seeing how he has progressed as a songwriter and musician

This band is amazing. I think it's hard to say that this is what the new Mayday would sound like. It's seems like now that Jason has even more freedom to make whatever music he wants he has progressed and made a different breed of music in Go Radio. I think he would have kept something different in Mayday though.

I met these guys in Lancaster, PA. My friends and I were walking down the street, and apparently they just got done playing. I wish I'd known they had a show. But anyways, I flipped a shit and told them I love their music and they were the coolest guys in the world. They stopped loading their equipment in their van and stood there and talked to us and Jason shook my hand. He's one of my favorite vocalists and that totally made my day. Awesome guys, with awesome music. This thread needs to be alive. Now.

The songs on Welcome to Life are good, there's just really nothing to keep me coming back that I couldn't find in better form on Do Overs and Second Chances. And I prefer Why I'm Home to Forever My Father anyway. The drumline seems pretty out of place.

O Holy Night was released today. It's a good cover but there were a couple problems I had with it. First of all, the whole pop-rock feel they gave to the second verse seemed really out of place. I realize they're a pop-rock band, but when the guitars start to come in right before the first chorus you can really feel the emotion, and then it's sort of undone directly afterward. Second, a small thing, but Jason singing the "La" parts sounded so off to me. It's really the first time I've wanted to cringe listening to Go Radio.

The comparisons to ALIR are funny. Comparing songs to other songs he wrote. Just under a different name. I absolutely loved ALiR, but 5/7 of the songs off DOASC blow almost every song off ALIR out of the water. Especially Black Cat and Jamie, the ones he didn't write. Or so I heard.

As you can tell by Maydays Second release lyrically and instrumentally.. Just sayin.

Yeah, The Truth Is, is awesome. The Original Why I'm Home is totally worth the 99c off iTunes too.

I've heard half of House of Hallways and I really like that one already.

They really are, I was talking to Jason a while before the show, then for a bit after when we got pics/ stuff signed. Talked with all the band members actually for a good amount of time and they're absolutely amazing people who really just want to make the fans happy. Not to mention play sick shows. Can't wait till they incorporate more from Lucky Street

Haha yes! The whole time I was just in awe. He definitely made his way up as one of my favorite vocalists. The first time I saw them it was great but this time just blew me away

If they're still up they did a bunch of songs acoustic for smarkpunk and Singin With the King is one of them and his voice is just flawless in it, makes me really wish that song was all acoustic, but we asked him and he said its gonna be a song they're trying to get on the radio

What's everyone's opinion on slow vs. fast songs on the record? The few songs I listened to on their Myspace weren't their greatest, but I'm still excited and the amount of slow songs is what I'm most worried about.

eh i think it's really balanced well

the faster songs are pretty fast and all the music soars
then the slower songs are where Jason's voice takes ove and emotions pours out. it makes the album IMO

Random, but I just got on Facebook and saw Jason tagged by (who I assume to be) you. My mind was blown.

Anyway, it's good to hear the slow songs don't necessarily drag album down. I"m actually kind of glad this isn't the second coming of ALIR, since I really Go Radio and Mayday Parade to become separate, without everyone always saying "This is what ABH should've sounded like" or whatever. And I'm actually kind of looking forward to letting the slower songs grow on me.

I like the balance. I mean, only Why I'm Home and House of Hallways stay slow. Hold On, Forever My Father, and The Truth Is all go full band at some point in the songs.

Fast>slow. But that's not necessarily saying they are bad, it just reflects the mood I'm in.

This is a good thing. People need to buy this album, this isn't a band that has a lot of money. This is the debut album of a new band, and they put everything they have into it. For 8.99, there's no excuse to NOT buy this CD.

Same here! There is not a single GR song that I find boring or that I hate. Yeah, some stick out more than others but they're all amazing. I don't even associate Jason with MP anymore. I'm glad GR is finally getting all this attention.

Aww, that's cute! Goodnight Moon is such a beautiful song. I'm so glad they performed it both times I saw them.

i'm all for a good pop-punk/pop-rock album. loved reach for the sun, the upsides, ect. ect. but i just don't understand all the love for this album. dude's accent when he sings is obnoxious to me, lyrics are really corny and lackluster to me. am i missing something? i was really hoping this was going to hit me just like the other two records i mentioned did. i don't get it.
just the opposite for me haha. i guess its all preference. thats what music is right? its all opinion. for me, this album hits harder than anything else go radio has put out. its not so much the lyrics, its the talent that this guy has to turn them into gold. at least thats how i see it. reach for the sun rules :D

Has anyone heard the original version of "Letters and Love Notes", called "Stay with me" by Carawae. Alex Reed was the lead singer/writer of the song. It's crazy different. A slower, acoustic based song more so than the heavy rock version Go Radio did.
