Thoughts on the movie version of the funniest show to ever have been cancelled. (Not including Family Guy because they are back on air) What would you want to see happen? I mean its been two years, where do they start?

Arrested Development official thread, go there.

Not that I want to bump this thread (because there is an OFFICIAL AD thread already), but the movie should pick up EXACTLY where the show left off. Michael and George Michael on the island, Anyong's secret, etc...it would be great.

Family Guy is nowhere close to being the funniest show ever cancelled.

Too bad Michael Cera went through puberty.

Truth.

Maybe it would indeed pick up a few years later and it would just recap? They can't possibly just ignore the finale though.

Well, keep in mind this might be 100% untrue, but someone on IMDB has posted a very long but interesting description of what is in store for the AD movie. I guess he has a few facts that apparently aren't true, but with everything he wrote, even if only a few of these things happen in the movie, we are going to have an amazing flick. I'll be honest, even if not a single word is true, it was hilarious to read anyway.

It's not even that I'm sitting here believing it really, it's that even if this is all fake, it's so funny to think about. Like the entire movie would be a perfect episode, with all of those smart conclusions and stuff. I'm just picturing it all really happen and laughing.

sounds more like a story arc for an entire season after being off the air for awhile... also it sounds completely fake but damn if it wasn't an entertaining read

I don't even care if it's fake. I'll enjoy whatever they come up with. It's fucking Arrested Development! I'll take Buster faking a coma with random nurses wanting to make love with him for the entire movie.

Well written even if its not true at all. Sounds like a good idea for a movie, but judging by the events and the estimated lengths of each, that movie would be like 2 and a half to 3 hours long.

Wikipedia isn't exactly the most trustworthy of places, though...

There was a ton of shit going on after it was canceled, but I think when it came down to it, mostly everyone said that they didn't want to ruin a good thing basically. Hurwitz was quoted somewhere saying that he was happy with how the show ended and didn't want to bring it back to see it fail again.

I believe it was almost picked up by Showtime and/or HBO - both of which would have been amazing.

Just look at how big some of the cast members have become now though, especially Jason Bateman and Michael Cera, haha. It's insane.

It's not like AD ever made a bad episode...and some of the jokes were golden. I felt that overall though, it was weak plot compared to what they normally put out.

showtime wanted to do the show, but they wouldn't have been able to keep up with the cost of the show on fox which led to hurwitz feeling like they left on a good note.

Its official. Michael cera has decided not to participate in the arrested development movie, the very show that launched his career and gave him the same role he plays in every film. His ass belongs in the Bannana Stand, and he knows it. Anyone feel free to express their anger like I did, which I hope they will make the movie anyways since its the best show in television history.

cera is a bit of an enigma he has expressed his displeasure with being noticed in public and has even stated he is very willing to step out of the limelight as far as playing lead roles and although this is far from a lead role, he is arguably the biggest name involved in what could be a pretty big event if this movie was to be made. i have wondered where he would even fit into the movie anyway since he is kind of beyond that age of young awkwardness and although he still plays that role in his movies i feel like his role in arrested is a little bit more based on his age. arrested is my favorite show ever and i would kill for a movie, i just hope that it doesn't wind up being a cock tease if it either doesn't wind up being made at this point due to casting issues, or if it winds up underwhelming. either way i need some tobias funke in my life.

EDIT: say he is off with annyong!

or have tobias/david cross try to play him the entire movie as an attempt to prove his acting abilities! (or not that is a horrible idea X-) )

he said that he doesn't see the point of a movie and that for all the people who want more arrested development that the three seasons are available on dvd. granted having it put in writing could lose any potential sarcasm since i am sure he gets asked about the show/movie in virtually every interview/presser he does.

I'd looove to see a movie, but only with the whole cast in it I think. For me, it just wouldn't be the same without the whole family in it. They all bring something to the show, so it would just feel like something was missing if any one of them decided not to do it. Guess I'd be a little on the fence about a movie sans Cera (or anyone).
