Driving In Silence (http://www.drivinginsilence.com) hailing from Baltimore, MD and brought to you by Matt Squire (Northstar, Stars Hide Fire) has posted two new tracks on their pureVOLUME (www.purevolume.com/drivinginsilence) site. The guys are also scheduled to enter the studio with Squire in early May. These guys are shopping for a label and definitely deserve one. They have upcoming shows in West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and Maryland. For more info check out their website. These guys were on my recommendations that I posted today as well. So they definitely get my nod.

look, no one really is interested in seeing all these band's purevolume sites clogging up the news page. couldn't you make some sort of special list of bands purevolume sites or something. it seems like every day there are 5 or 6 more purevolume sites for every little band out there.

Why do you even come to this site? You're missing the whole point of the site... To get new bands out there to the ppl and help them get noticed and maybe even eventually signed and picked up. The purpose of the site is to expose the LITTLE bands and keep you up dated on the big bands.

I agree.

My above comment goes for you as well.

i come to this site to get news about bands. i don't need to hear about every little band that puts up another new song on their purevolume site. i mean, yeah, that's good for them and some of them i check out. but to have sooo many of them a day. i can only read "seriously, check out these mp3s, this band is gonna be huge" so many times.

as for you timberwolf, you have no idea what i listen to, so you can't say i "stick to the same old shit." sticking to the same old shit is listening to all the same sounding purevolume site bands. and if i really inspired enough rage in you for you to type "I HATE YOU", you really need to lighten up.

First off, chill out. There aren't that many post about new bands and their pureVOLUME pages. You wouldn't believe how many emails we get submitted and IMs I receive from bands about their new PV page. If everyone were to be posted and all the ones actually up on PV there would be over thousand and thousands of news post on bands you've never heard about. Second, just don't read 'em. I'm sure you are capable of browsing over them.

I don't find him annoying. It just seems like he's making coherent opinions in a pretty relaxed manner, if you ask me.

and for those keeping score at home, there's 5 news posts about pureVOLUME pages out of 25 news posts. So one-fifth could be a different number to anyone.

Yeah, im in a small band called bury me standing, but whatever. We played a show with them on Saturday in Towson, MD and there wasnt really anybody there. This cant be blamed on anyone, but i can definitely say they stood outside while everyone played, save for the person assigned to watch their merch. Not cool dudes. Im not hating, im just calling it as i saw it. I dont wanna be a dick or anything, i just dont dig bands that do that.

p.s. yeah yeah i know, i shouldnt be bashing and then putting MY band's link up, but screw it, im a hypocrite.

wOOt SGMD. i love you. now, as for all these PV.com posts, i dont mind. I just think that they should focus on bands that have the most potential. Jake posted my band www.adelphirock.com back in january, and it helped us out a ton. long live AP.net :stormtroo

As I saw it Bury me Standing Played first and then packed up and left. Good way to be a hypocrite twice in one paragraph...I was smoking outside about 70% of the time cause the other bands playing were not at their best to say it nicely, I never saw Driving in Silence standing out front..Get your facts straight if you want to be a dick and not look stupid........ :dissapoin .......

I agree that it is annoying to have to skip much of the news posted on this site. I usually know not to check out the majority of the bands promoted after reading their names. They cannot have a month name, a season name, silence, demise, falls, anything about being on a sports team (varsity squad, junior varsity, second string, etc), prevails, any word/phrase stolen from another band's song or album title, any reference to catcher in the rye, grace, though there are a few exceptions-maybe. And for the record, it is better to have a shitty name that is creative and meaningful than a shitty name that is generic and reminiscent of a thousand screamo bands.

If we all had that approach we would never discover good bands. Judging a book by it's cover is so closed minded that I'm suprised that you even had the nerve to write your band name under the delerious point that you were trying to make....

Oh no, we actually left halfway through the 4th band's set. We were throwing a birthday party for a good friend of ours, and we didnt know it was on the same night, small oversight. But we lent downside risk our equipment, so i think we were even, but yeah we did leave early. touche, or however you spell that. HOWEVER,
If you stood outside 70% of the time, why are you even talking about anything having to do with hypocracy, its scene kids like you who pay to watch a show, then stand outside the majority of the time. You are the people that are leaving Baltimore in shambles, but im sorry miss too cool for the room. I personally feel Athens is Burning sounded pretty damn good Saturday. As for us, i dont like to talk about my own band's performance, i dont want to sound cocky, but our resume speaks for itself. But lets call this a truce, they werent too interested in enjoying the show, from MY perspective, neither were you apparently, cigarettes kill, im an open hypocrite and a trouble maker, and the guy in adelphi is our friendly peer mediator.

first of all, thanks to inagreendase for pointing out that i was making all my points in a calm manner, cause i was. i didn't get heated once, unlike a lot of people who rebutted me. awesome avatar too. kid dynamite is better than almost any band mentioned on this site.

second, in response to this post from kelly999 (and the others like it), there are other ways to hear about bands than absolutepunk and purevolume. you could find out about bands the old fashioned way: going to shows or buying records. just because a band is mentioned on a website does not make them good. i think that jchausow had a great point. there's so much generic crap and so much mediocrity in the scene today that it's ridiculous. the internet has allowed a lot of really average bands to get a really big fanbase and it's a scary thing.

yeah, whats hizappenin'? just want to say that im from MD and i heard of adelphi rock beofre AP.net and driving in silence before they did, not to say that they're slow to jump on the boat or anything, just to make my self feel good, so thats pretty much it, pureVOLUME.com posts don't bother me, and MD is the most happenin' place around, move here not to california

I've discovered some rad bands linked by other bands I like, other labels, compilations, friends, shows and other common places.

Should I have an open mind to a lack of originality?

It is not my band. It was my friend's band, before they moved on and went to college. I'm too lazy to change my signature. And they were, admittedly, not amazing. It doesn't take much nerve to represent them, especially when the site has been taken down, and the members have disbanded.

My point is not delerious. I would be delerious after having checked out all of the shitty bands promoted on this site. That being said, there are bands discussed that do interest me, so don't tell me not to come here. Also, I understand and can appreciate the promotion of shitty bands, but I agree that they could be in a section other than news. Maybe a list of recommended purevolume sites....

Exactly. Promotion is rad, and I am happy for bands that live their dreams, regardless of their quality. But I think recommendations/promotions should appear somewhere other than in the news. When we are seeking new music from AP, we can browse the alternate section, whereas album releases, tours, gossip (shady, but fun to see the comments), etc will not be immersed in from winter's darkness arises the ashes of silence's highly anticipated mp3 release thats drawing a lot of attention from many sincere, respectable, music-loving major labels.

Thank you.
