We arent still fighting in EVERY part or Iraq. The north is pretty stable from help with the Kurds. It's only pockets of resistance in the southern parts of Iraq mainly.
yeah but we're in the country, and if we're not fighting then why are their u.s and uk soilders still dying.as well as iraqis?

We are still in the country because if we left it would most certaintly collapse and just be total chaos. I think that more troops going over is not a bad idea. They need all the help they can get to make sure the country is stable and transfers power safely and smoothly on June 30th.

those are some pretty big pockets though...........

Cities are larege pockets? If we are talking the whole SE part of the country that would be different.

04/05/04, 05:38 PM
i think fighting in several cities is a big problem, but that's just me..........
but the reason it would collapse is cause we went over there and completely demolished the country

And I respect that, but I would much rather be fighting in 10 cities than in whole portions of the country. If we were still fighting at the highest level in 50-75% of the country then I would be freaking out. I think that the military there, despite media coverage, is keeping things in a somewhat more controlled manner.

they are cities though,as in the places with the highest population concentrations.

Yeah, but we are fighting against oppostion. Not against families that arent doing anything. Just like we shut down a road into a major city so that we could have control and no more fighting could happen within the limits.

it's affecting all the people that live in the city, and is sure to piss people off,but it needs to be done i guess, still i don't see this winning us alot of iraqi friends.

Of course it will affect families within the city limits where fighting is taking place, but that is always a factor in fighting/war. You still, however, have to take some blows for the larger scale. No one ever said it would go without sacrifice.

I just happen to be one of those people walking around in an american uniform. Only mine says U.S. Marines, not U.S. Army. I hope you realize you are insulting the very people that provide the freedoms that allow you to make idiot posts on websites like these.

thank you, the fact that your concerned about our freedom is respectable (im not trying to be sarcastic)
but i just cant deal with it because i dont want my freedom to come at the cost of other peoples freedoms.

it's not exactly great when you tell people we're freeing you then force curfews and isolate their city,it's sure to piss people off,but like i said it's a mess that we've made so it has to be cleaned up as best as possible.

ok i do admit that was a bit of a harsh comment, but how do you provide me freedom by going to iraq?i mean when was the tiny iraq army going to invade britain or bomb my country with nukes?

Listen no matter how ignorant people can be, they apprecate your dedication as well as I do. I honestly do, and I support our troops but not the cause.

not sure. we were trying to get other countries to bring more troops in so that we could have fewer troops there. but thats probably only so bush can say 'see? i told you wed make the deadline'
but NOW weve been havin heavy fighting again for the past week. so now theres been talks of sending MORE troops.
were not gonna make the deadline unless somehow bush manages to pull a smart move out of his ass sometimes soon.

the deadline has nothing to do with american troops, after the deadline the troops are still going to be there, the deadline is in respect to the sovereignty of Iraq, it is the date when we will hand over governmental powers to the Iraqis, the soldiers will still be there as peacekeepers.
