What movie is this?

I remember watching it when i was a kid...so I'm gueeing it was made in the 80's or early 90's.

It revolves around several tenants who all live in an apartment building. Some time during the movie the building gets burned down, and little robot creatures befriend the people and rebuild their building.

I'm not kidding at all, I tried searching for it on imdb and I cannot remember the name of the movie or any of the actors in it. I do remember an eldery couple, and a bad guy who was hispanic, I think he was the one who burned the place down.

hahahah I loved this movie too! Its weird cause I could picture the scenes in my head, but I just couldn't picture any of the faces or anything. Man, I forgot how cute the robots were though.

I just watched this movie a few weeks back and its still badass. I tried telling my friends about it but they all gave me this kind of wtf that sounds stupid look so im glad im not the only one who likes this movie.
