i just know it can't be any worse than the previous 2 shitfest's i've had to sit through. batman forever wasnt THAT horrible, but batman and robin pissed me off, even when i was 9...

the only thing right now that pisses me off about this movie is the batmobile, they should've just made it like on the first two movies.

most anticipated

- charlie and the chocolate factory
- goblet of fire
- batman begins
- war of the worlds
- sw3

im very pumped for BB though and ScareCrow is my favorite villian. I hope he is in it for a good amount of time because he isnt the main villian. I think they said he could be back in the sequels.

Actually it's a prototype that Wayne Enterprises (it was one of their first projects) created for the military but it was rejected. So it's technically a Tactical Assault Vehicle, not a hunk of junk.

Batman Forever has some of the worst dialogue ever. Kilmer loses just for that. Batman & Robin is the worst movie period. when i really think about it, i don't remember any michael keaton in the first two. just the villain's and the amazing direction. i'm hesitant to say, but i think keaton was good by association. he never brought down the movie. he was just surrounded by such a dynamic presence with burton, nicholson, devito, etc. it was hard to really enjoy him outside of the batsuit, as much as the other characters.

i always thought jim carrey and tommy lee jones were awesome villains, and i enjoyed joel shumacher's flamboyant direction, and i thought val kilmer fit the mold really well. batman forever was probably the most enjoyable for me. I even liked chris o'donnell.

forgive me for saying, but i thought george clooney played the best bruce wayne. okay maybe not the best, so much as a really good one. something about his demeanor really nailed the role. he's certainly not a bad actor. the movie however, was a complete disaster on all counts. i would have been interested to see clooney in a batman that was better written better.

im stoked for the new one. bale owns in newsies. er...american psycho. my only concern is that bale, keaton, clooney or kilmer could make that new batmobile look cool

I'd like to think that somewhere Joel Schumacher is kicking his own ass. This, I think, will be by far the best movie of the year. My only beef was the editing for the fighting sequences was just plain bad. It was shot far too close and edited sloppily.

Plus, its such a dark film, it doesn't help those two issues at all.

It was a good movie, I was pleasantly suprised to see Holmes didn't completely suck. The only complaints I have with the movie is technical stuff. Like, that Batmobile had to weigh at least 10 tons, therefor it would not be able to drive on rooftops. And that whole part where Holmes gets poisoned, one minute she's unconscious and the next she's awake, and why wouldn't Batman be freaking her out if everything else did? Other than that it was good. At first I was kind of like what the hell? with that whole Scarecrow thing. But then it made sense at the end. Yes yes, very good movie.

Actually....that is explained due to the fact that the batmobile had this screen that showed the buildings around where he currently was. If you noticed, the it even shows the support of the buildings and so on.

Not that could or couldn't hold the actual car, but it does explain how it worked.

Nobody would ever play a better Joker than Jack. Even though Heath Ledger seems like a really odd casting move for Joker, Nolan has always done a great job with casting.

ledger is sort of out of the ordinary but he's a fairly competent character actor. i'm not a huge fan but he was pretty good in the Lords of Dogtown. still though it will be interesting to see if he can fill the role.

i think he was more referring to the fact that you say no one can beat jack. no offense, but dont judge heath ledgers performance before he gives it. jack nicholson is a great actor, yes, and his joker was wonderful, but the new batmans are reinventions of the series on par with frank millers reinvention of the batman franchise and since we dont know anything yet, one day you might feel foolish saying no one can beat jack. i mean, i always thought the scarecrow was a crappy character, and when batman begins came out, i quickly bit my tounge.

you make a fair argument. i guess i'm just a stickler for jack's joker. but i agree i may have spoken too soon and will be the first to admit to my mistake should it be the case. to be honest i began biting my tounge shortly after making the comment. i'm curious to see how ledger will approach the character and whether or not he'll be able to re-invent the character in a way that will really make me bite my tongue. he surprised me somewhat in lords of dogtown so it will be interesting to see what he does with this.

tim burton's batman is overrated as a whole, not just nicholson's performance.

yeah, it was a good movie at the time. it was an entertaining story about a vigilante who fought crime dressed in a costume.

however, as a batman movie, and as a comic book movie, it was total shit.

Darren Aronofsky (director of pi,requiem for a dream and the fountain) talks about what his version of batman would of been like.

Daniel, Melbourne: What was your take on Batman going to be like? Were you going in the direction Chris Nolan went, or would you have retained some of the dark fantasy feel that Tim Burton brought to the character? What villain(s)would have been there to battle Batman, and would you have retold the origin story, or pulled a Singer and made your film a continuation of the past series?

Darren: I was never planning to direct Year One. I was more interested in writing a screenplay with Frank Miller on Batman. My pitch was always very realistic. I wasn't interested in fantasy, I was interested in the psychology of a real man dressing in a disguise to pay out real vengeance. The batmobile was a souped up lincoln continental with a bus engine. It was technical and rusty and extremely violent. They would have never let us have violence.

Werner Herzog

(Grizzly Man = Fantastic, Invincible = Average, the rest of his films that I myself have seen = Unimpressive)

Wong Kar-Wai

Can't beat perfection. Just watched Begins for I don't know, the 30th time. Man that is pretty much perfection of the comic book genre. It's even better after reading Batman: Year One. Aronofsky would not have been a good fit for the story in my opinion. Nolan was perfect because the atmosphere he creates IS Gotham City, and how he deals with Bruce Wayne/Batman being two sides of the same coin (which is more him) is just simply fantastic. I really cannot imagine any comic movie surpassing it, unless the Dark Knight does.

i find what he said to be terrible...the whole focusing on the dishing out of revenge first i could see that working...but using a lincoln all pimped out as the bat mobile is terrible.

nolan i think did a great job focusing on why bruce wayne is the way he is. it seems that aronofsky would take a shit ton of artistic liberty...and to a point i like that...but i think he would take it way too far.
