View Full Version : Good Rap in the Scene
Hey I'm a fan of raps set to the backdrop of more indie/rock instrumentals like the AmpLive Radiohead Remixes or the hip hop parts of Trophy Scars' Alphabet Alphabets. I have a small handful of hip hop artists I listen to, but I'm craving more. Suggestions?

you'd probably really like handsome boy modeling school. some of the artists who appear on some of the songs are mars volta, mike patton, cat power and jack johnson. try the album white people to start with.
also, maybe try atmosphere. his latest is quite mellow 'when life hands you lemons, paint that shit gold'. although some of his older records are arguably better.
maybe you know both of those, but it's something at least. :)
Well, my personal favorites are...
Sage Francis,
Atmosphere,
Immortal Technique,
Cage,
Cyne... etc. etc. :-)
Hope that helps, and what you're looking for.

Atmosphere is my favorite
but I'd say that flobots would also be a good choice, as well as gym class heroes and the roots.

The Roots (Illadelph Halflife)
The Coup (Steal this Album)
Panacea (Ink is my Drink)
Murs (3:16)

I tried to go by wha tyou were looking for, but couldn't really figure it out so just named some some of my "scene" friends enjoy. Not a big LB/Cunnin fan personally, though.
Flobots is terrible, by the way.
