City of Ember is an upcoming film fromWalden Media directed by Gil Kenan based on the 2003 novel The City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau. It will be released on October 10th, 2008.

Thoughts: I can't tell if this movie is going to be great, or downright awful, but a part of me thinks it will be a fun adventure worth the cost of admission. In a way, it reminds me of BioShock, what with the whole underground city and whatnot.

I've read this too, and by the looks of the trailer it just doesn't look like it's going to play up to the book.

The preview looks amazing, and the early response to this movie is extremely positive...

and yet, it comes out in 4 days and I havent seen any promotion for it at all? whats going on

I saw a poor rating on RT. I still want to go see it because I'm a fan of Bill Murray. I think I'll wait for the dvd though.

a) you've seen a kids movie about the world coming to an end.....so mankind creates an underground city, lighted by a generator...where they've lived for 200 years..... I think this sounds like a pretty clever/sci-fiish apocolyptic film to me...and its a KIDS MOVIE!.....so I dont know if you can call it "just another" stupid kids move.

b) i never read the book...but i went to see this movie with people who have read it, and they all say they're shocked at how pinpoint accurate this film was.

Thinking about going to see this tonight, i've already seen Appaloosa and W and this is the only thing in theaters that I care to see.

Wish some more people around here had seen the movie so I could get some more feedback, because I don't want to rely solely on RT.
