The Fire Theft (http://www.thefiretheft.com/) have dropped off the remaining dates with Saves The Day, Grandaddy, and Hey Mercedes. The lead singer cannot sing and needs to rest his voice.

This tour has been full of nothing but bad luck.

maybe this is a wakeup call. TGUK had it, and look what they did: came out with another great release. I'd love for Saves The Day to put out something reminiscent of Stay What You Are or prior releases. But, who knows. They might continue to evolve and come up with something unheard of next. I'm not about to doubt Chris.

That would be great, if they came out with another Stay What You Are like TGUK did. I doubt it though.

yeah, they weren't in chicago on saturday.
i'd been hearing bad tihngs about this show (std), so i was expecting the worst, but it honestly wasn't bad. "in reverie" is pretty enjoyable live. and they do still play stuff off "through being cool." someone before said they talked to chris and he said they weren't playing stuff anymore off that, and i wonder now if they were lying...

Oh yes! It would be amazing if a band made an album just like their old ones. (sarcasm)

A lot better than coming out with an experimental album that makes them lose half their fan base.

i think you were lucky to go in there expecting the worse. Because a lot people went in expecting what they always have like me and were dissapointed. I guess if you arent looking for anything special then you are surprised when it isnt that bad.

That's too bad. The Fire Theft was my favorite band on the tour though Grandaddy was realllllly good and Saves the Day and Hey Mercedes were more than enjoyable.
This is from the Fire Theft site. There has been no official word from them about droping off the rest of the tour.

In an effort to rest Jeremy's voice, the band will not be playing tomorrow's show in Cleveland. We apologize for the inconvenience. Also, the Milwaukee show on April 5 has been cancelled. Tickets will be refunded in Milwaukee.

i'm never going to give up on saves the day. while their latest release was far from my favorite, it still had a couple awesome songs on it. even though chris' voice sounds nothing like it did on through being cool or any release before this one, i still think he can write some awesome music. who knows what the future holds for this band, but things can only get better as i see it. i can almost guarantee you though, that this band will never put out another through being cool or stay what you are. if you've learned anything from their past five releases, its that they never keep the same style at all. each record held something new and different, even the three unreleased songs on vagrant comps all showed a different style of this band. they are all art in their own respects. saves the day is probably my favorite band, if you couldnt guess, and i just think this band isn't anywhere near done yet.

i sympathize with throat problems right now :(
Man, hopefully this is as bad as it's gonna get for STD. They should just go on one more hyper-tiny club tour and then do some hardcore drugs and write some brilliance.
Hey Mercedes on the other hand is on the rise cause of the whle Braid thing.

please let us all respect the fire theft and what their members have done in the past. jeremy enigk is brilliant, and its a shame that they are not headlining a tour of their own.
