Talk about this solo musician, and his unique blend of Prog Metal, Free Jazz, Blues, Industrial, and Ambient music.

Personally I love his music, even though his new album is a tad uninspired.

never heard his own records...but i do have an ayreon cd with him on...he was one of the better parts to the cd (didnt like it too much..only bought it coz it had Akerfeld from Opeth on it..haha)

I've Strapping Young Lad live a couple of times. They didn't really do it for me. The second time I left early as I was bored.

Awesome! Hope this musical break he's on right now is temporary, even if Strapping are done i'd love him to continue with his solo projects. I know he's gonna do the occasional ambient album but i'd love another record similar to Ocean Machine or Synchestra.

His new album Ka releases this year - it's supposed to be a sort of "summary" of all his works.

And where is the free jazz in Devy's music? I mean, I love the man. But free jazz?

I love Ocean Machine and Infinity, but haven't really gotten into any of his other stuff for some reason.

only listened to Addicted and Terria so far (come on, Earth Day is one of the greatest songs from this decade).. will check out the rest sometimes

This thread needs more love.
His two new albums just came out. Ghost, his most ambient album to date, is absolutely amazing.

and Deconstruction, his heaviest album to date, is great as well, though I haven't been able to listen to it as much, just because Ghost is that great.

Deconstruction is one of the most epic albums I have ever heard. Devin Townsend is a pure musical genius.

My prog metal friend jock Devin Townsend a lot. I respect and appreciate, but I'm not super into him. Do like that part of that one song that says, "We all just rip off Meshuggah".
