whoa! i can't believe there hasn't been a thread for them already... i've been spinning the beacon street collection all day today. when i was 10-13, no doubt was probably my favorite band of all time. i was completely obsessed haha. it's a shame rock steady was so rushed, it could have been a better album. we're also supposed to be getting a new album towards the end of this year/beginning of next, so i'm definitely excited to see how that comes along. any fans?

also, I would very much like to be naked with Gwen Stefani.

i think it's tolerable, extremely catchy, and unique to her style... but no doubt was so much better. i really hope they go back to their original sound with it, or even a more thought out/less rushed rock steady. please no more songs like 'detective'...

it's interesting to listen to them now, after being obsessed with them when i was younger and not knowing their roots and influences and now that i mostly listen to traditional ska and reggae, it's a different overall feel from them. they're a fun band and the next album we get is supposedly the most 'inspired' album yet, so we'll see.

sixteen and excuse me mr. were always at the top of my favorite songs from them, but other than those two, the album puts me to sleep a little. although i haven't listened to it in about three years, so it might change next time around. no doubt is just a really fun, let loose band for me, and tragic kingdom is all about her seven year failed romance with tony, and a little depressing. it's a good album, but i'd much rather listen to return of saturn or everything in time.

I still plan on seeing TDK, but it's not like something I'm really anticipating or anything. Whether or not it ends up being a better film than Wall-E remains to be seen, and I guess even then it'll boil down to personal opinion, but I've just never been big on the whole Batman franchise as it is. Like I said though, it does look like a good movie and I do plan on seeing it, I just won't be first in line or anything, you know?

Tragic kingdom was one of the first albums I really fell in love with. I'm definitely interested to hear what a new no doubt album would sound like.

I am so glad there's a thread. A dead thread, but a thread. No Doubt are fantastic. They'd be more amazing if they never came out with Rock Steady, which was god awful. Return of Saturn was OKAY. Tragic Kingdom, Beacon Street, and their s/t are absolutely incredible though. Back in the day they had so much talent. I hope their upcoming album goes back to their roots and isn't like Rock Steady was :/

Anybody into Stephen Bradley's new band, Jet Stream? I've been digging what I've heard so far, and I just heard them on a new DirecTV ad...the song "Electromagnetic Superstar" plays in the background and it's a pretty fantastic dance track. Here's a link to a video of that commercial (http://displacedbrett.wordpress.com/2009/05/27/jet-stream/)

I've loved Tragic Kingdom since I was 4! They were really the first band that I ever got into. I love "Return of Saturn", too. I'm so excited to see them next week. And in regards to Gwen's solo career, the first album wasn't that bad. I didn't even bother with the second one, the singles sounded like trash.

Old thread bump!

I just came back from seeing No Doubt tonight and I have to say that it was probably one of the best shows I've seen.

That's good to hear. I've never had the chance to see them live before so I'm hoping they make their way to England. What was the setlist like?

They pretty much just played through their greatest hits album.

My god, some of those Paramore fans at the Indy show were ridiculous. A bunch just came to see Paramore and left when No Doubt started to play. :-d

Yeah, all my friends on Facebook who went basically just tag'd their albums as "PARAMORE! and No Doubt?"

I'm lucky that I went with people who wanted to see No Doubt more. I think my sister was the only person out of all us who really wanted to see Paramore.

It's pretty awesome how well Tragic Kingdom still holds up.
