the movie is in the process of being made and it will have a HUGE all star cast including Cast: Mickey Rourke (Marv), Bruce Willis (Hartigan), Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, Maria Bello, Kate Bosworth, Steve Buscemi, Benicio del Toro, Michael Douglas, Carla Gugino (Lucille), Josh Hartnett, Jaime King (Goldie), Brittany Murphy (Shellie), Marley Shelton, Christopher Walken, Elijah Wood; and is to be directed by robert rodriguez (desperado, the faculty..others) Based Upon: (4/7/04) This movie is based upon the "Sin City" graphic novels by Frank Miller. In particular, the three stories that are being adapted are the original "Sin City," "The Babe Wore Red," and "Those Yellow Bastards."

Premise: Sin City is a violent city where the police department is as corrupt as the streets are deadly. In this movie, we follow three stories, the central of which is Marv, a tough-as-nails and nearly impossible to kill street fighter who goes on a rampage of vengeance when a beautiful woman, Goldie (King), he sleeps with for only one night is killed

those are like all my faves haha...holy shit....its to be released next year some time...more details http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hp&cf=prev&id=1808560209

Good cast aside from brittany murphy, josh hartnett, leo dicaprio, and mickey rourke.

Del toro will be in every Rob Rodriguez movie.

BUT, sounds like it is going to be fucking awesome.

Leonardo Dicaprio's not a bad actor once you get passed Titanic. He was good in The Beach, Catch me if you Can, and Gangs of New York.

I find it incredibley hard to believe that many major actors would be in one movie. That would cost well over 200 million dollars to pay all of those people.

it is true...and some actors just are in a movie out of kindness and dont ask for as much as they are worth...they do it because they are friends with the directors..or they owe someone in the business a favor...so what better way to pay em back by being in thier movie.....ben affleck has done it for kevin smith numerous times...same with alot of others...stuff like that.

this movie looks great. its got a really gritty feel to it and the cast is incredible. its based on a comic book, ive never read it but i used to be into comics a while back and this one was always talked about so it must have a good story behind it.

check out the trailer here (http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/sin_city.html)

It's based on lots of different stories from the comic book all in 1 movie. So there's like lots of plots and characters for follow, which should be interesting

I so want to see this now

I've been looking forward to this for a while, it's definately my most anticipated film of 2005. Quentin Tarantino directed a small part of it as a return of a favor to Robert Rodriguez helping to score Kill Bill 2.

I can't even describe how freaking Psyched I am for this movie. I have never read the comic book but that is definitely one of those trailers that portray a film so brilliantly that you'd be crazy not to see it. The funny thing is that I can barely watch anything in black and white but for some reason it doesn't bother me anymore (The only black and white film I could watch before was Clerks) The cast looks simmply amazing (Mainly Jessica Alba and the extremely Hot Chick from the Gilmore Girls) I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT!!!

I was gonna get the comic books for this, I think this film is based on the first two sin city book by Frank Miller, but I felt it would spoil the movie for me so I've decided to wait until after I've seen the film.

Taken from Amazon Uk:
The 3 graphic novels the film is based on are: Sin City: The Hard Goodbye (prev. Sin City), Sin City: That Yellow Bastard, and Sin City: The Big Fat Kill

Sin City

Sin City is based on Frank Miller's series of "Sin City" graphic novels. The plotline will include elements from the stories "Sin City," "The Babe Wore Red," and "That Yellow Bastards."
-------------------------------------------------------------
I really cannot wait for this movie to come out, it's going to be the best Film Noir of our age, and it looks gorgeous. The cast is great (though I don't think that Jessica Alba is really fit for her role, along with Elija Wood, but Frank Miller did have a huge part in the casting), and the visuals look wonderful. The spot coloring is definitly unique, and the Sky Captian-Esque visuals are definitly impressive. Not to mention the story is great, the graphic novels were wonderful.

Anyone else looking foward to this movie, or better yet, anyone get to go to an early screening of the movie? I'm trying to get tickets, but I think it might be too late. Post your thoughts in here :D

Robert Rodriguez doesn't screw around with his work. He puts 100% into his stuff. As much as he loves the Sin City graphic novels...I have no doubt in my mind that he was almost 200% faithful to the stories from the novels especially since Frank Miller gave him his blessing and works on the film with Robert as well. This movie will not be let down. Other than Star Wars and Batman, this is the movie I am most excited to see.

I went and saw Sin City last night, which I must say is one fantastic movie. Anyways, one of my friends upon completion of the movie remarked "alright that was really well made but can someone just tell me what happened". I attempted to explain what I believed happened, but she was not satisfied with my explanation. Can someone please explain what went down in all three stories and try to tie up some loose ends. If you have knowledge of the graphic novels as well that would be even better. I didn't think there was too much to it but I am most likely wrong.

Andy
07/26/05, 03:38 AM
Patches finds dead hooker. Patches gets blamed. Patches finds out some dude framed him. Patches kills him.

Die Hard saves little girl from rich sicko. Die Hard gets framed by sicko's pop. Die Hard gets out. Die Hard finds little girl. Die Hard kills sicko.

A whole bunch of hookers kill a cop. A whole bunch of hookers fight the mob. A whole bunch of hookers get whacked.

My thoughts exactly. My friend doesn't understand why after Marv gets killed, you go back to Hardigan's story, which goes back to the farm. I don't know, she's reading too much into it.

its based on 3 different stories which happen to have a few overlapping characters.... so the shift from one story to the next isn't gonna be super smooth, but what can you expect. I guess i could see a little confusion if people didn't know it was based on the graphic novels and thus different stories though.

3) Bruce willis rips rapist's second pair of balls off with his bare hands

they've got plans for two and three. two (i think) is going to be based on the story "hell and back", and frank miller is supposedly writing an original story for the third movie.

I think they said they were making the sequel as "A Dame To Die For" or it was called something like that.

I read that one, but I havn't read "Hell and Back" yet.

I know, but in the story all the events took place around the same time.Or something would happen before something else had happen.

Like in the first one.Kevin had been dead, but near the end of the movie he had showed up again alive.Even though it was just a small little scene of him reading the bible which was was quite ironic....him reading the bible that is.That's because Hardigan had killed THAT YELLOW BASTARD before Kevin had been killed by Marv.Get it?

Carlo Marx
02/10/06, 05:11 PM

but please, correct me if i'm mistaken.

No No No.

Marv's story was "The Hard Goodbye"

Dwight's Story is "A Dame To Die For"

I thought that was Marv's story too, but I checked the book.It was "The Hard Goodbye"

Damn.I really was hoping to see if Kevin had any other parts in the story.

Oh well.I want to know who plays Eva in "A Dame To Die For"

check out the comics: "sleeper" and "100 bullets". as for movies, watch some classic film noir movies. i gotta admit, i'm a total novice in this subject, but i know the big ones are double indemnity, out of the past, and the maltese falcon.

Film Noir basically means that everything in the film is from the perspective of the protaganist (main character). Therefor, in almost ever noir film, the main character is in every single scene.

However, films like Sin City do this to an extent, but because they deal with individuals stories, they are divided into sections where the main character is in every scene.

We only know as much as the main character knows and we only see what he see's.

Sin City Games are Coming
Source: Red Mile Entertainment
May 24, 2007

Red Mile Entertainment, Inc. today announced it has entered into a multi-year, worldwide license agreement to develop and to publish video games (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5738#) based on the "Sin City" series of graphic novels by writer/artist and film director Frank Miller. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The winner of multiple awards in its original comic-book and graphic-novel forms, the "Sin City (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5738#)" property achieved even greater public awareness with the 2005 release of the successful Frank Miller's Sin City live-action theatrical feature film (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5738#).

"'Sin City' enjoys a broad and devoted following. Its crime noir settings, richly detailed characters, hyper-real action sequences, and engaging stories provide an outstanding groundwork for video games (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5738#)," said Chester Aldridge, CEO of Red Mile Entertainment. "Red Mile is enthusiastic about working with Frank Miller to create a franchise that is worthy of this great property."

"Taking 'Sin City' into the world of video (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5738#) games is very exciting - games offer a whole new way to bring audiences into 'Sin City,'" said Frank Miller. "The Red Mile team has impressed me with its dedication to creating 'Sin City' video games that will remain true to 'Sin City' as I've always seen it."

I don't know. I could see it being done very well, if they keep to the basic principle of the comics. But only if you only play Marv

you really think they will? i can see this going down the path of a GTA game, which i dont think would be bad if it is just done correctly.

chances are it will be no good. most video game to movie translations, and vice versa, are usually interpreted pretty badly.

Plus, Marv's story can only be so long...

Dwight was my favorite in the movie, but if you think about the characters, Marv is the one who goes in and busts shit up 24/7, so that's the ideal character to play.
