I've been listening to a lot of The Snake The Cross and The Crown, Colour Revolt, Dear and the Headlights, The New Frontiers. Rec me something along those lines.

My ex-girlfriend constantly raved about TSTCTC but I never listened to them for the longest time. However, I finally caved and saw them in concert with her (Manchester Orchestra opened which was a cool bonus) in D.C. and I've been a fan ever since. Good band.

Also, take iwasacamera's advice. He knows what's good most of the time, and you should indeed expand/extend your iron and wine listening time.

Iron and Wine is definitely stupendous, but I'm looking for something with a bit more substance. That is, more amplified instrumentation probably.

i get what you mean, but "more substance" is poor word choice. sam beam's music and lyrics have faaaaaaar more substance than most electric acts, even if his music is stripped down.

I think he just meant sonic substance, which is why he said something about amplification.

I recommend Jeremy Larson and Copeland.

Isn't that exactly what The Shepherd's Dog is?

i meant LITERALLY more substance. not figurative substance. that is, more physical material. i agree though.

in some ways. it's a lot for iron and wine. it's still pretty stripped down compared to most though.
