View Full Version : The Chariot (Offical Thread)

I've decided for my 5,000th post I'm going to make an offical thread that should've already been made.
I'm listening to Everything Is Alive, Everything Is Breathing, Nothing Is Dead, And Nothing Is Bleeding right now and I love it.
Thoughts?

My favorite "metalcore" band, such an intense live show.
I love the production on their first album, and his vocals on the second.
And be prepared for a ton of fat and Christian jokes.

agree with much that has been said before, namely;
the vocals have progressed in the second record, which is much better than the first.
the song titles are generic and the band as a whole try too hard to fit into the scene.
perhaps it's not my thing, but i think they're a bit overrated.
that being said, congrats on 5k Kris!

They are just under mewithoutYou on my list of most wanted to see live bands haha. I think they are a stand out band in such a crappy genre.
Such lame song titles. Generic. Way too scene.
The production on the first album was cool. That's all the nice things I can think of.
Atleast you had one nice thing to say.

one of my favorite metalcore bands. i think the reason people think they're scente is because they tour with a lot of those fashion-core bands. their first album wasn't that great imo but i really enjoyed the Unsung EP and The Fiancee has some cool songs on it. i enjoy them.

I just recently started listening to this band, and I really like them, it is kinda generic but no more then every other metalcore/southern rock band around now. I have known about this band for a while (cause they are from georgia and I live in georgia) but I never cared enough to listen to them until a few weeks ago and I regret never seeing them live when I had the chance. My favorite song so far from them is "forgive me nashville".

uh...they are one of those fashion-core bands, or at least started out like that.

That's the best thing I have to say about them as well. I have the first record and I don't think I would come back to it except that it is nice to hear a metalcore album once in a while that isn't all polished and cutesy.

i saw them open up for POD (slap me, please) a year or two back and they pretty much summed up what i hate about music. they seem pretty generic at what they do, but then again i am the biggest fan of generic pop-punk out there lol so dont listen to me.
one of the funniest things ever happened there though, the guitarist pulled his shirt over his face, started jumping around, and ran right into an awkwardly placed speaker on stage. i loled for a long time.

They weren't quite at 100% on that tour. Not bad, but not as good as a headlining show, or even a show with second billing. I saw them at Purple Door in 2006, and that was one of the best experiences of my life, ever. If you think the Chariot is a better live band, you need to see mewithoutYou again.
On topic, I love the Chariot. Every release of theirs is so good. More appropriately, though, I love Josh Scogin. Amazing vocalist, and (sometimes) rather good lyrics. The Chariot, old Norma Jean, and A Rose By Any Other Name are all sweet. I'm definitely pumped for the new CD.

They're both hideous. lol. I won't order a shirt I won't wear.
Good point. I probably won't do it because of the cost either. $23 is a little steep for a CD/T-Shirt deal when I can do a Zao pre-order with a better shirt for $15.

Picked it up today. I love how all the covers are different. The one I picked is pretty white and faded. One I found was so faded, you couldn't even read the title of the album. Then some were really dark on the font. Cool stuff. #4401 of 25,0000.

I'd be impressed if they actually retained more than 50% of their line-up between albums. Between The Chariot's constantly revolving door and the way he randomly stepped down from Norma Jean, I sometimes wonder if Josh Scogin is a douche or generally hard to deal with.

I hear Jon Terrey is back in the band (from The Fiancée), and Rux is gone, so right now it's Josh Scogin, Wolf (now the second longest surviving member), Stevis (was added around a year ago, I believe), Jon Terry, and David Kennedy.
I just hear there were lots of personal reasons for people leaving. I read in a comment from a The Chariot news article a while ago all the reasons why people left, can't remember much though, ha.

This was so awesome. I saw them at the Sydney and Orange stops of this tour. The Orange stop was particularly awesome cause they played in a tiny little hall on the floor. It's pretty intense having Wolf right up in your face screaming haha. Got to meet them all except David. Nicest dudes, especially Wolf and Stephen. I was talking to Josh about the pear incident and he said that was literally all it was, just the bowl of free pears breaking. He said they offered to pay for the broken bowl, but the owner still shut them down. Dude must have been a real ass.
