04/20/04, 05:57 PM
dawn of the dead, butterfly effect (butterfly effect was alright, dawn of the dead was awesome in my humble opinion) still haven't seen kill bill vol. 2 which will probably take the trophy and recently saw the punisher which was a bummer for me. Who knows, Spider-Man 2 and The Village are still on their way.
Ok i have now seen kill bill vol. 2 and i must say fuck dawn of the dead and butterfly effect (they were alright) but wow i was blown away by this movie i'm gonna have to see it at least 2 more times. The coffin part was crazy as hell. I didn't think Budd would be trailer trash, I thought if anyone would be it would be Elle.
I personally liked Kill Bill Vol. 1 a bit more, but Vol. 2 was great nonetheless.
Also, The Butterfly Effect ranks up there as well. Still gotta check out Eternal Sunshine.

I agree, I just saw it for a second time today. The first time I saw it I wasn't sure which one I liked better, but after the second viewing I liked it even more and definately think it's better than volume 1. As a whole the movie is amazing, Tarantino's best in my opinion, and I love all his movies.

i dont know about best....but gothika was fucking awful. I saw it twice, the first time I was with a load of friends and one of them thought it would be funny to pour a whole tub of ice on me half way through, then the second time I was meeting this girl i met on the internet (it was the first and only time ive ever done that, i am no weirdo) and a couple of her friends and I ended up sitting next to this 7 foot metaler dude and i happenned to be really drunk at the time....
and as if a guy that fat could ever get halle berry, sheesh they should at least try to make the story beleiveable, i mean a doctor who loses her memory and ends up a prisoner at her very own mental asylum where she is attacked by the ghost of some random blonde girl is beleiveable enough, but halle berry marrying a huge fat dude - no way.
and by the way the film sucked - twice

on a slightly different note i think 'eternal sunshine of the spotless mind' is going to be the best film. I haven't seen it, but I've heard great things.

Anyone who says the Passion is an idiot. Dont feel guilty, youre not gonna get struck by lightning, the movie sucked, plain and simple.
Big Fish was really fucking good... however, when did that movie come out? Was it this year? I cant remember.
Kill Bill was really good too.

Ok I though Big Fish looked dumb from the previews on TV and nothing was explained in the previews so I didn't plan on seeing it and then I bought a movie (i think it was once upon a time in mexico), and there was a full trailer for Big Fish on it and I finally got what it's about and Igot up and wanted to go see Big Fish right away, and unfortuantely it was out of theaters by then.

That's what I was going to say. That movie had more substance to it than every other movie I've seen so far this year combined.
Leave it to Burton.
And it comes out on DVD/VHS tomorrow.

Eternal Sunshine is the best so far this year, followed closely by Big Fish
Has anyone noticed that everything Focus Features puts out is amazing: Eternal Sunshine, 21 Grams, Lost in Translation, Swimming Pool...etc etc. I've recently started purchasing everything they've put out. I recommend Series 7: The Contenders...its premise is 2 episodes of a reality tv show where the contestants have to kill each other, last man standing wins...its amazing

Definitely Eternal Sunshine. Its not only one ofthe best movies of the year but one of my favorite movies of all time. Definitely Kaufmans best film. I'm not even a carrey or winslet fan but they were put in an entirely new light in this movie.
By the way, didn't Big Fish come out last year?
Besides that movie, I've yet to see anything else but I've missed out on some movies that perhaps are big contenders (such as kill bill vol. 2). I also wanna check out that documentary, supersize me.

She sure is. I heard she made that movie but I won't go see it.
Its interesting to see how many people mention Eternal Sunshine. More interestingly is the movie, despite its star power, has only made about 39 million in the US I think in all the months its been open. For reference I think Mean Girls is in the 60's and shrek 2 in one week made 125 million or something. Perhaps more people should be talking others into seeing this fantastic movie. One of the most unique and well written screenplays. Directing and visuals were beautiful but in a subtle way. Acting was amazing.
Hmmm, there's got to be a way to entice more people ot see it. HEY TEENAGE BOYS, You get to see Kirsten Dunst jump up and down in only her panties and a wife-beater tank on. Think of all the fantasies you can get out of that...and then enjoy an amazing movie.

Big Fish was good and i was teary eyed at the end, but it is definitely not "Tim Burton's masterpiece". If I had to name Burton's best movie it would be "Ed Wood" followed closely by Edward Scissorhands and Batman.
