I don't know if the site has this, but artist's choose not to use it, but I feel that the genre's that artists can choose for their profiles are extremely vague and people don't have clear definitions of them. Again, if artist's just choose not to use more specific genres, then I do apologize for this.

While the genres listed may be vague, its up to the band to decide what they think they sound like. If they make their listings too narrow, they may miss out on potential fans.

On a similar note, I've noticed that more bands signing up on the artist list are, well, nobodies. For the most part, the list has a glorified list of active bands that have records out, have playable songs on the profile, are recording, tour, AP exclusives, etc. Don't get me wrong; I love finding new bands to listen to and discovering artists I don't know yet, but its rather pointless to find a band with nothing in their profile but a five word description and a genre selection.

I don't know the policy (if any) for a band to sign up for an AP artist page, but I think it should be slightly more limited. I would hate to see the charts filled with uninspiring and inactive bands that would mirror a myspace list of bands and their respective pages.
