You can read an article here (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1486289/20040409/good_charlotte.jhtml?headlines=true ) on the new Good Charlotte album and what is to be expected. The band is currently in the studio in Los Angeles working with Eric Valentine who produced The Young & The Hopeless. They went into the studio with about 18 songs and are going to continue to write new ones until the first five Warped Tour dates which they'll be playing. The album is expected to drop in September.

that article made me like good charlotte more. i mean, who wouldn't love a band that passionate about songs that they probably have someone else write for them? **snicker snicker** :wink3:

I'm just curious, not trying to be a smart alec or anything, but out of all of you who will read this thread, is there anyone who can honestly say they like Good Charlotte? Just wondering.

Actually that's a good point, I think a lot of people could say that (including me). I think what I meant to ask is if there are any people that call themselves fans of the band.
i wish Good Charlotte did not exist.

Do believe I'll be alone on this one, but they're decent live. I don't like them, their music annoys me, but I have seen them several times. They put on an energetic show...their fans enjoy themselves. Ha..heh....er...

i think alot of their older tunes are pretty catchy, but nothing on the young and the hopeless was that good, besides the dad song.

In a perfect world, I could easily just ignore this band without any resentment. But I can't, and here's why:
My biggest problem with this band is that they've saturated the market so deeply that when people recognize that I listen to "punk music", they come to the conclusion that THIS is what I listen to. It's a misrepresentation of my musical tastes.
Not that I can blame the band for this. If I were in their shoes, I'd be doing everything I could to get as big as possible. Who would turn down getting paid to do what you love?
My conclusion: You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't.

The Starting Line, Allister, New Found Glory, Fall Out Boy aren't that far from (actually very similar to) Good Charlotte. You DO listen to that music, just not that band.

Fall Out Boy is NOTHING like that band - the only similarity is that they both are in the same genre - the differences are that FOB is actually original and their lyrics have meaning and substance.

Just because you hate the bands in my avatar does not mean that they are very similar to GC. They are all far less commercial, and all of them have a fanbase that is significantly broader than preteen girls, neither of which GC can claim to.

wordstheory, your avatar thing...
NFG, Homegrown, The Starting Line...most of those bands sound ALOT like Good Charlotte. About having a fanbase that's more varied, that's also not true. Good Charlotte has a lot of preteen female fans, but have you ever been to ANY pop punk show? They ALL are made up of mostly preteened females.
And a good deal of those bands are not less commercial. How so?
It has nothing to do with hating those bands, it has to do with your making comments and completely proving those people you seem to dislike right.
