View Full Version : For a pop-punk/post-hardcore mix band, which name is better?

If theres any other name you feel like giving to a band thats clearly going to make it(do not ask me what I base that statement on)then feel free to suggest it.

Its pop-punk/post-hardcore which I guess translates as straightforward Rock.

Thanks.

EDIT: In a dramatic twist, Collapse the masses is now off the list, on a count of it being a Trivium(of all bands, trivium!)song. I can't edit the poll, just try not to vote for it.

None of them really stand out, but I guess Dual Theory is kind of cool

Restitude sounds too metal. Collapse the Masses sounds too shitty. Go with Dual Theory.

im a fan of three

therefore it is far superior to the others

Just a cross of those influences pretty much. I think Brand New and envy on the coast come the closest, but we're british so that could effect our sound.
Between Brand New and Thrice is the goal, but doing what comes naturally, you can't be that specific.

uhhh the first one sounds like you're trying too hard.

and collapse the masses makes it seem like you're gonna have shit load of breakdowns and pig squeals. so id go with dual theory. with a third word added. something like dual [insert animal name here} theory

collapse the masses sounds so forced and fake, reminds me of like bless the fall and escape the fate etc. etc. and restitude just sucks, pick dual theory

Dual Theory is slightly the best

Collapse the Masses is incredibly generic and should never ever ever be chosen.

Its not going to be hardcore pop. Its jsut going to be somewhere between pop-punk and hardcore in terms of heavyness and influence. We're not going to have hardcore riffs and breakdowns, or lyrics about parties.

But...I don't think they'd suit our sound, and they're also not very powerful. Maybe on the B-sides record:-)

Dual Theory, I guess.

Wondering how a mix of hardcore and pop-punk sounds like.

The answer would be many of the bands we know and love.

It's commonly called "screamo."

Also, go with Dual Theory, as a nod to what I must assume is a clean singing/screaming combo vocals. It would be appropriate. Good luck with your band!

okay go say that in the music forum and be as headstrong as you can for as long as you can. you will go to sleep at 5 AM having learned more htan you could imagine about genres.

dual theory but instead make it DUEL theory. hollaaaa

Deadbolt01
07/16/08, 08:48 AM
Yeah, uhh I guess its a darker(and hopefully more atmospheric) sounding pop-punk to what most of them are like, but I'm hoping our british rock edge will keep us away from emo/screamo labeling. But who cares anyway, right?
