One of my absolute favorites back then, and still is today. Show some love.

This was just such a great film. I remember seeing this in the theaters and falling in love with dinosaurs after, haha.

The crazy thing is, after being so obsessed with the original, I never saw The Lost World - and still haven't.

Every time I'd get sick I'd watch this, Twister, and Godzilla (Matthew Broderick version)... it became a tradition for whatever reason, haha. Dinosaurs are cool because of this movie to me.

You need to. I need to watch it again because it's been so long but I remember thinking was absurd, even when I was just a dopey kid.

Great movie.
I hope to God that the new one is good. I really do. This is an amazing series all together even if the last two weren't that good. Universal Studios bought the rights from Michael Crichton before he had even published it because they loved it so much.
The new one needs Jeff Goldblum. In fact anything needs Jeff Goldblum because he is amazing.

Laura Dern is the only actor they've got back on board so far.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369610/
Proposed Ideas:
Proposed story ideas included the discovery of a deadly prehistoric disease that the revival of the dinosaurs inflicted and which threatens to wipe out the entire human race.
One of the ideas featured a group of soldiers that were genetically crossed humans and dinosaurs. This was proposed by John Sayles (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000626/).The second idea sounds atrocious.

Haha, that second idea would be absolutely ridiculous. But yeah, I hope that it is an improvement over the last few installments as well.

Oh, "Jurassic Park." The film that made me want to make movies (and be Tim). In hindsight; not the greatest film in the world, but as an action movie it's certainly up there with "Die Hard," "Raiders...," and "Aliens." As for the sequels, the third was a terrible waste of time, but how cold do you have be to not have your blood pumping when the T-Rex gets loose in the city in "The Lost World"?
And the second idea? Sayles already wrote it. Rumor is that Spielberg (who's executive producing w/Joe Johnston directing) loved it, and it's the one that's been greenlit. I know the first finished draft featured velociraptors armed and trained to be soldiers. Ridiculous, yes, but to be honest, I don't know how much more realism anyone could ask for from a series of monster movies.

It's crazy to think how good this movie looked compared to how fake most of the CGI looks these days.

Amazing film. And totally right about the dinosaurs. Those effects hold up better than most shit today. This movie also made me interested in dinosaurs. I'm actually gonna watch this again very very soon.

I thought the opposite. I watched it recently and I laughed at how fake it was, especially the kitchen scene.

It looks good because there were only a handful of CG shots in the film, I think it was 30 something compared to the 200+ in most big FX movies now. The rest was done with animatronics, miniatures, and even men in suits for pieces of the kitchen scene.
For a good laugh, carefully watch the shot where the T-Rex smashes through the tree branch while it's chasing the jeep. You can practically see its CG legs disconnecting from its body. Also, anyone ever wonder where that pit (that the cars get pushed over) in the T-Rex pen appears from?

That'd be the one. My guess is that the scene was planned wayyy in advance, and at some point the designs for the pens had to change but at that point they had already done too much work to go back and fix everything.
That, or Mr. Spielberg fucked up big time.

Probably one of the most intense scenes ever. You can't talk about this movie without mentioning this scene...

I remember skipping school when I was in the third grade to see this. My mom said it was okay to skip one day so I could see this with her and my aunt hahaha
The lawyer getting eaten on the toilet still makes me laugh each time. The movie is still very terrifying as well. I still get tense during the entire rain sequence.

This movie was just fucking awesome way back when. I remember how badass the poster looked with the T-Rex skeleton and just oh god I wet myself as a child. I had all the toys and shit too. Dinos, command center, all of it. I mean, it showed you not to fuck with dinosaurs.

It seems like the more "realistic" they try to go these days, the worse and unrealistic it looks.
