I've been debating whether to get a DS for a while. This may just swing it. Never played Trigger or Cross, but I've heard nothing but good things, and I'd like to try this classic RPG.

I though the Chrono series was Playstation exclusive, or was that just Cross. Which system was Trigger released on?

sputniksignals
07/02/08, 06:55 AM
Trigger was SNES. Cross was PSX. Trigger was re-release with FF Chronicles along with FFIV. I don't know if I'll spend money on a port that I already have.

07/02/08, 06:57 AM
This port is probably better than the old port, hahaha. Either way, I definitely would love to play through it again.

sputniksignals
07/02/08, 06:59 AM
Yeah the PSX port was so like slow. Actions during battle were like delayed and shit and it got annoying but meh. I would like the mobile aspect of it but that's pretty much it. I'm still undecided on FFIV DS...

It's a really classic RPG with a great story, great characters, and a good gameplay system. You get to time travel! There's also a bazillion endings. It was pretty epic for it's time.

I dont have the second DS one. I have the first GBA one and it was fun because it used like timing attacks and stuff like that. The puzzles also involved using Mario and Luigi's special abilities. I liked it. Id say its worth playing

If I get a DS for Chrono Trigger, maybe I'll get it. That, Zelda, and Phoenix Wright. Definitely Phoenix Wright, haha, I love that game!

I love Xenogears as one of my favorite RPGs, which is tied with FFIX which has a soft spot in my heart as my first FF. But Xenogears ruled, despite being an unfinished work that starts off awesome and ends off like a book.

Those aren't true sequels though, just another mario game that fits in the RPG genre, they shouldnt even be compared.

But ah yes chrono trigger is an amazing fucking game, one of the greatest RPG's ever put out there and a game that will easily pass the test of time, I would take it over 99.9% of the bullshit role-playing games they put out these days,

No I was just saying there were other Mario RPG games, and that the DS one was a sequel to the GBA one.

One of the, if not the, best RPG I have ever played. The only one it can compete with is FF VII. I still have it for the SNES, and most of the original packaging. One day I'll buy a mint edition on eBay.

This and Final Fantasy VII set the bar for me in games.

Any new updates on this? I can't find anything about a release date, but I'm just no good at finding some of the obscure info that some people are here are able to find. The release probably isn't set yet, but I'm just so damn excited for this that I'm losing patience.

This remains my favorite RPG after all these years. The characters are great, the graphics are fantastic, it has multiple endings...

Unless the DS version has exclusive content, I don't think I'll be buying it. I already have it for SNES and the ROM on my comp.

This game made me unbelievably angry. I loved it so much, but I always had problems beating the final boss. I actually took a ten year break and beat it. Strangely enough, I did the same thing with Earthbound, except I just couldn't beat that game. I ran out of Super Bottle Rockets and couldn't beat the final boss.

Makes me sad, sad, sad.

This is one of my all time favorites, along with Earthbound, FFVI, FFIV, FFVIII, and KOTOR 1.

I clearly favor RPG's.
