Sounds like it could be a very funny movie if done right.

Worst case scenario, at least it isn't Will Ferrell starring in a sports comedy.

Will Ferrell in a non-sports movie actually playing a different character!? Who knew this day would come.
Hopefully it'll be good.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Ferrell only done two sports movies?
Maybe I'm forgetting one/some, but I can only recall Blades of Glory and Semi-Pro at the moment.

Ah, yes, silly me.
I see both my posts went through despite being told my first one didn't. Weird.

I agree.

Assuming it isn't a different take on Holmes and Watson, where Watson is the lead, I like the fact that Ferrell seems interested in taking good work over being the whole focus of the film. More time was given to other characters in Semi-Pro than in many of his other mainstream comedies. Granted the movie still turned out sorta poor, but I think he benefits from taking a little less of the spotlight.

Interested in that one as well. Hopefully neither gets canceled as a result of the other.

Semi-Pro, in my mind, was without a doubt the worst of Ferrel's filmography.

Absolutely. I think he's running the risk of people tiring of him though, at least I am. The only solution is to either share the screen more or take more unexpected roles, like STF.

Sounds like it has serious potential.
What's up with Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes flick?

Ferrell's career is tanking at the moment as far as the quality of movies he's choosing but this idea sounds like it could be good. Like someone stated above he needs to stop stealing every scene he's in because it has gotten a bit tired.

VERY NIICE! :P (borat ref)
I enjoyed semi-pro more than blades of glory really.
Short of anchorman Kicking and screaming is my favorite movie of his. I really enjoyed it and laughed a good amount.

I used to be interested when his name was attached to a movie and now its a "oh no not again" feeling. He's joined other notables such as Matthew McConaghey on my list of movies I will not watch based on association.

Me too. Will Ferrell does not make me laugh that much. Id prefer a serious Sherlock Holmes as opposed to a tongue-in-cheek one.

Just saw that. Finally getting the good roles after a long lull there (kind of for good reason though).
