I'm interested in starting to collect vinyl. CD's are getting to be more and more worthless, plus I just want to up the punx.

What's the most solid record player I could buy for the least amount of money? Do you vinyl vets know much about cd player/turntable combos?

Target.

Sounds dumb, but I like my target record player.

Plus it plays CDs, cassettes, and has a little Ipod adapter thing. $99

don't buy one of those combo cd/record players that look like this:

they have poor sound quality, bad needles that will ruin your records and they're cheaply made.

It's decent. Probably not the best you can get. The vinyl's sound glorious on it but the CD and cassette's aren't that good quality.

Yeah, my mom has a record player/CD player/cassette player/mp3 player combo. Sound quality is fucking terrible. Absolutely atrocious. It sounds like listening to an album over the phone. Steer clear at all cost.

I wanna be a vinyl noob too, so I guess this is a good thread for me to read.

I need help too... It would be cool if people could offer some good advice. Is this one any good? http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-PL990-Fully-Automatic-Turntable/dp/B00009QORL/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_i

I feel like the stand alone turntables are A LOT better than the combo ones...
