On my rampage of replacing everything the flood in my house claimed, I need to replace my digital camera. Anything is an upgrade from my 2 year old camera since that seemed to become outdated a month after I bought it.

I was looking at Sony CyberShot W170s and Nikon Coolpix S550 or S600 but I don't know what I should do about the situation. I'm not nutso about having super high tech quality but I've got about 240 bucks to work with and don't mind paying a bit more than that because insurance covers at least 240. Any ideas?

This is good to hear. I started leaning towards the Sony after I read some reviews.

My parents just picked up a canon powershot for under $200. It's a good digital- great color, easy to use, inexpensive accessories, etc.

Meh. Circuit City didn't have the Powershots they were supposed to. Brand new, so I guess they were coming in soon on shipments, but I didn't feel like waiting so I got the Nikon. I like it, and I had a Nikon before so I'm comfortable with trusting them. Oh well. It works for me!
