Ever since beating Fable about two years ago, I thought about how well made the game was and how I longed for more. Since the teaser trailer and countless previews leaked, my anticipation for Q4 2008 for a release of this has multiplied. Now, today, I finally got a glimpse of the cover art.

Personally, this is like my Halo. Words cannot describe how much I can't wait for this to drop.

This game was my main reason for getting a 360, it better not disappoint.

the biggest complaint I hear from people is the game is too short, but seriously, in the same boat as Oblivion, the game play is phenomenal, and picking between good or evil is fucking awesome

I bought a 360 for Oblivion and I'm still playing and loving it. Fable II is my next must-have.

playing it as evil kicks ass - taking out that bitch Whisper, helping the bandits raid camps, scare the shit out of people with your full body tattoos

Do flies still fly around you, do you still grow horns, does fire still rise from your steps, etc?

i sure hope not. i thought that the horns and halo's were cheesy and that they should have found a more subtle way to indicate your characters disposition.
although i liked the first fable i didn't much like the combat mechanics, but i hear they've changed them up so i'm hopeful.

I remember reading that the combat mechanics are the kind where it's like x + y + rb = roundhouse, etc. I can't remember what that's called.

I think I love you.

Seriously though, I played Fable a few months ago. I adored it; it's a brilliantly addictive and charming game, and was really well crafted. My one complaint; it was criminally short. I got through it in 2 days. So my number one hope for Fable 2, other than that it be just as awesome as the original, is that they add more sidequests or flesh out the storyline to turn the 15-hour game into a 30-45 hour game. Obivously it would be a little foolish to expect Oblivion's depth of gameplay, but 15 hours is too short for a fantasy RPG, especially one that suggests far more than it delivers. Molyneux is one of my favourite game designers (Black and White was an awesome game as well) and I have full faith that I will be playing Fable 2 for a long long time.

Easily my most anticipated game of 2008, by a very wide margin.

This is the next 360 game i'll buy. It's one othe big reasons why I got a 360 in the first place.

From the videos I can already tell it's going to be great...they still have some of the same tunes which is nice...it's set in the same place, etc.

The original was brilliant. A kind of Zelda meets Black and White but better than the latter and worse than the former.

Can't wait for the sequel.
To be fair, what is better than Zelda?

A: Nothing

First game showed potential but was definitely lacking in allowing you to play the game anyway you wanted.

Still excited for this, although the dog is pretty hokey.

In the last hype video released by Lionhead for the game, shortly into the video Peter Monyleux is shown sitting at a desk. The camera zooms in on his desk, as he circles the word "October" on his notebook. So if you believe the hype, it's coming in October.

Ok, so this has just been updated to a October 1 release date with preorders beginning August 11.

Do you have a source for this, because Lionhead's website still says just October 08, and GameSpot actually says October 17th?

Still, great news that it's coming out soon. Bad news that I'm gonna have to decide between Fallout 3 and Fable 2 as to which game I want to become fully immersed in for a while.

The only thing I can think about when I think of Fable is all the times the dudes over at Penny Arcade have ripped on Peter Molyneux or however the fuck you spell his name.

The first game was pretty good, the second one sounds incredible, but then again so did the first... Half the shit they talked about wasn't in the game though.

Bumping this since the games out now.

What's everyone think? Still ridiculously short but there's a lot more to do after-the-fact. I thought the clothing was kind of lacking though, i kept looking for the mail that's in the first one. As well, has anyone found any quests, etc to do once it's beaten other than the whole buying real estate deal?

It is unbelievably addicting. After the main quest it kind of slows down, the only quests to do are to beat the crucible records and rescue slaves, other than the real estate. I just wish the main quest was longer, and the co-op was better, I thought it blew.

Yeah, I've seen people speculating that this may be a GOTY candidate..I'm always up for a good RPG so I think that's pretty realistic and the reviews have been glowing.
Plus fantasy RPGs seem to be kind of rare now, although only the good ones are coming out now, there's fable2 and then Drakensang which looks awesome coming in the new year in February.

Klatzke
12/29/08, 12:19 PM
I kind of like it. I've beaten it already (got it the day after christmas) and I've just been spending today buying stuff up and doing a couple of quests I never finished. I really like the game mechanics, but the main quest should have been so much longer. It would also be cool if they didn't short you on side quests. The only ones you really get are over after you spend ten minutes on them.

I'm pretty sure this is going to be off my radar here pretty soon, though it was fun while the questing lasted.
