Yeah dude I was freaked out. There was no one in the house too. I wonder what it was. we both heard it too.

Some chick at work told me a chilling story today. Like 2 years ago she was in a car accident. She broke a big bone in her leg...and she was drifting in and out of consciousness the whole time the paramedics were trying to get her out and stuff. And there was a woman who got in the car with her...she was talking to her and rubbing her head. Making sure she was comforted and everything was gonna be ok. So a few days later after she got out of the hospital she was talkinga about the whole situation with her family and she mentioned the woman that sat with her in the car. Her family told her there was no woman with her in the car at all. The paramedics were all men. So she was really freaked out and didnt believe them because she spoke with the woman and physically felt her there. So she called the paramedics or whatever and asked them...and they confirmed it...there was no woman there that night...weird

this one time i was sitting watching a scary movie when i looked out of the window and there was this dancing clown. So i was like 'what the fuck' and phoned my friend who lives opposite and asked if he could see the clown and he was like 'no clown dude'. So I carried on watching the film and the clown got closer and closer to the window and i realised he had a knife in his hand so i started getting pretty scared and called my friend again to check if it was really there, he denied seeing it again. By this point the clown was really near the window, on the movie a girl screamed......then i died.

you see the clown was just a reflection, he was infact inside my house dancing behind me and then he killed me.

I call this story 'the dancing clown'

My suitemates have a ghost living in their house named Mrs. Otto, she was the woman who used to live there and I think died there. They've told me stories about TVs randomly turning on and they've seen here a few times, they're twins. Apparently one of the twins though she saw her other twin walking down the hall, but it was like the ghost kind of disguised as her sister. I dunno, I can't quite explain the stories very well. They've seen her walk through their house and through a wall. I've never believed in ghosts until they told me they had one because they're the sweetest girls in the world and I know for a fact that they would never lie about anything. I told them I've never going to go home with them for a weekend and stay at their house because that freaks the shit outta me.

They also told me a few other ghost stories. Ya know how everyone kind of views the devil as having hooves (sp?) and such. Well someone they knew apparently saw the devil in their basement and now there's hoove footprints in the concrete of their basement.

The town they live in use to be a stop on the underground railroad, so they have shitloads of horror stories.

My boyfriend has all these pictures on top of his TV in the living room, and there's one picture that is always moved to the side. You can put it move it back to it's original position and the next time you look at it it will have moved..it's really creepy.

Then tonight I was at my friend's house and we were downstairs and when we went back upstairs the light had fallen out of the ceiling!!! Normal lights just don't fall out of ceilings..it was really weird.

When i was like 6 or 7 my parents split and my dad was renting 2 rooms from a house in the country and there was this ghost, he had a name that the people who my dad rented from called him something but we will use the name COLIN (i cant remember the real name), they bought the house from his family when this man died. But like this house was big and this guy was lonley in this huge house, so at night he would leave lights on in certin rooms to make the house look more occupied ( he must of not wanted to be robbed or something). But like at night me and my dad would sleep in a room and my sister in the other, and at night the lights would hit on in the room and my dad would be like Colin hit off the lights and instantly the lights would go off. I wish i would of been older when this went on because i would of looked into it more, but kinda weird/creppy.

My friend and I were driving on this semi-deserted road about 30 minutes from anything. It was something like 3 in the morning and we were coming back form band practice, so we were really psyched about an upcoming gig. But it was pitch black so my friend told me you couldn't see shit when you turned off the brights cuz his regular lights didn't work well. So he showed me and as soon as he flipped the lights off, we heard a bump hit the passenger door (I actually felt the bump). Justin thought he hit a rabbit or something so we stopped to examine the damage. We didn't even get out of the car when we saw this face float away from the backwindow. Then the moon came out and we could see through this weird figure.

After that we drove 120 down that strip of road every time.

i don't know any decent stories...this freaked me out though

only just this one time me and my brother were outside playing...and we live right next to the highway/train tracks...and we used to play in the woods right next to the bridge where the tracks went under the highway...
so yeah one day we re playing under and around the bridge and i was up the hill underneath the highway where it was dark and stuff...and i thought i heard someone say my name...but no one was around except me and m brother...so i ran down the hill to where he was and brought him up with me...and we heard it again...i think it was a woman's voice calling my name...
so we just ran home because i was scared shitless

the only thing i can think of is that homeless people lived underneath the highway...but there really wasn't anyone around...hah i never went back under there after that day

okay first off, I live in the woods on this back road. when I was about 8 I was home alone with my brother. I was in my room, my brother was down the hall in the living room watching TV and I passed by my window, I saw this tall guy with a pumpkin on his head with a long sleeve red plaid shirt. I freaked out, got my brother who was about 16 at the time, and he went outside with a flashlight but didn't find anything. then the next morning I went outside and looked around in the front yard, there were footprints coming from the woods leading directly to my window then they just disappeared. I showed my brother the footprints but he thinks I was just seeing things that night and the footprints were a coincidence. to this day I still can't sleep with my bedroom door or windows open or with windows that don't have curtains.

I used to see the ghost of a guy walking around my house really randomly at night as a kid. I wouldnt have ever known that he was a ghost except when he walked through the wall and dissapeared.

Also Im friends with a guy who used to own a coffee shop downtown, and one night when we went there way late to hang out (i think it was about 2) we say a girl standing on the upper level. Then we ran like hell.

Do you want it? What weird shit? tell me. yeah i want it, its big and im gonna build a barn that will be a top of the line recording studio but anyways...it was a warm june night last summer and i was alone. i was upstairs watching tv when suddenly my loving golden retriever, homer, started to bark like i never heard before. i went to see whats up so i started to play with him and started flashing the lights. all the sudden i saw a body in the window and it scared the shit out of me. homer wouldnt stop barking, so i called my mom and she couldnt hear me cause she was on a cell. so i abruptly hung up and called my dad. the phone died. cops later showed up haha

I was very little, sleeping over at my grandparents. Me and my brother were sharing a room. I was sleeping facing the doorway, where I saw a woman I've never seen before. She was there for a few seconds then gone.

Me and a friend were park in front of a cemetary that's suppose to be fairly haunted. I was in the passenger seat. And you know how when you breath on a glass window it fogs up? Well that happend. And in the fog I could make out a face.

I saw hellogoodbye live.

I've got some. My house is pretty haunted. Back in the early 1900's, it used to be like the house where the farmer, wife, and kids spelt. So, we pretty much owned a huge portion of this town. I haven't seen anything in my house but doors would open randomly. However, my brother was on the computer one time and thought someone was watching him. He went into the hallway and saw a little girl standing there.

Also, when my dad was living in the house; he saw one of the farmers when he was sleeping. My mom saw the same thing also.

For my story, we went to Gettysburg and since my moms friend is a police officer; we could go on the battlefield at night. Well, it became extremely creepy riding through. My brother and my moms friend saw a general that they identified the next day in a gift shop by using a postcard. I saw something as well. We were at a different part of the battlefield and as we are driving a grayish figure is walking up and down on this one part of the battlefield. Figured it was a confederate.

When my great grandfather died, my grandmother could not go to her fathers funeral. Her brother did go to the funeral though.

The night before the funeral my grandmother had a dream, and my great grandfather was in the dream. She said he looked really young, but his hands looked like the hands of an old man.

Two days later when my grandmothers brother came back from the funeral, she asked him how it went. He said it was odd, because at the calling hours, they had made him look really young, but his hands still looked like the hands of an old man.

Thought that was a really cool story

me and 3 other of my friends rented a big, old, 4 bedroom house, and when we first got it we were all checkin it out, right before we moved in. we were all walking around checkin the place out and we all kinda split up between the 3 floors. when i was done lookin at my room i thought i heard my buddy in the other room so i went in there and no one was in there, then i yelled out his name and i thought i heard laughing and footsteps go running down the long stairs to the basement so i thought he was runnin away from me, jokin around, so i followed him, i get down the stairs and its a darker basement walked around and i couldnt find him so i heard more footsteps go up the stairs, any ways i chased footsteps around for awile and finally gave up and was freaked out so i went outside. all 3 of my buddys were outside in the front yard and i was like what the fuck, i thought i was chasing seth, they all were like we've been out here for a long time. sorry for the long story but i thought it was cool. it freaked me out.

Sorry its kinda long:

When I was about 10, I went to my cousins sleepover (she had it at my grandmas house). The oldest people there were her older sister and her 2 friends who were all about 18. Well my grandma had a quiji board and we all decided it would be fun to try it out. Since they were older my cousins friends decided the two of them should do it while we all watched. Fisrt I should say these 2 girls knew NOTHNG about our family. So they started and suddenly they started getting answers. When they asked who it was, it said Carol--and the only Carol anyone knew of was another one of our cousins mom, who had passed away many years ago, before i was even born. They continued to ask questions and kept getting, crazy responses back. Then decorations started falling, which at first wasnt a big deal until it kept happening. But it didnt really freak us out until all of a sudden a picture on one of my grandmas shelves fell. Now there was two big reasons this scared us 1. The picture was way in the back, behind other pictures which were all standing fine and 2. the picture was of my Uncle and my aunt CAROL. Needless to say we immediately stopped and never used it again!

But it didnt really freak us out until all of a sudden a picture on one of my grandmas shelves fell. Now there was two big reasons this scared us 1. The picture was way in the back, behind other pictures which were all standing fine and 2. the picture was of my Uncle and my aunt CAROL. Needless to say we immediately stopped and never used it again!

quiji (is that the spelling?) boards are fuckin creepy. i want to try one again, but i feel like i'd be too skeptical now for it to work.

i don't have scary ghost stories really, except once my friend and i were pretty sure we both saw a ghostly figure in my house while playing roller coaster tycoon. we stopped playing after that and left my house. i have other scary stories, but they mostly involve cops.

I heard footsteps at 3am one time. I thought it was my dad going to the bathroom or something and I went out in the hall and nobody was there. Then all of a sudden our printer randomly went off. I ended up waking up my whole family. I don't know it just scared the hell out of me.

I was reading up on this story (again) just a few days ago. Really creepy. In a sense, it's like Russia's version of the Bermuda Triangle, except on land.

The Dyatlov Pass Incident

Excursions into nature can be serene for some and exhilarating for others, but for an unfortunate few these sojourns into the untouched wilds of our world can be tragic. Still other such journeys into the unknown end in such unfathomably frightening circumstances that they become the stuff of legend. Such is the destiny that befell nine ill-fated skiing enthusiasts in the late 1950s.

Unlike so many of the most intriguing mysteries of the 20th Century — including the fate of the crew of the Ourang Medan (http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2011/11/death-ship-the-ourang-medan-mystery/) or the whereabouts of the missing Anjikuni Villagers (http://mysteriousuniverse.org/2011/07/village-of-the-dead-the-anjikuni-mystery/) of Canada — what makes the so-called “Dyatlov Pass Incident” so fascinating is the fact that there is absolutely no doubt that these events actually occurred… and dreadfully little doubt that one of the last sensations experienced by these poor souls was one of abject terror.

The proof of this tragedy exists not only in the plethora of photographs that have been preserved, but also in the extensive records (many of which are still allegedly classified) of the Soviet military who investigated the odd case and were manifestly unable to reach any definitive conclusions despite an overwhelming amount of physical evidence. In fact, the investigators tasked with solving this case were eventually forced to attribute the whole peculiar affair to: “a compelling unknown force.”

But, before we go any further; like any good mystery we must start at the beginning…

On January 25, 1959, one ski instructor, three engineers and seven students from the former Soviet Union’s Ural Polytechnic Institute, located in the city then known as Sverdlovsk, boarded a train and embarked on a journey to the nearby Otorten Mountain range, which is nestled in the northern Urals, for a strenuous cross-country skiing expedition.

The leader of the excursion was an enthusiastic 23 year-old by the name of Igor Dyatlov — for whom the notorious Pass would eventually be named — who had assembled a team of male and female skiers with the intention that this arduous trip would serve as a training exercise for a future expedition to the more difficult and treacherous Arctic regions.

As the group of seasoned skiers left the train station and hopped a truck headed toward their very own “Alpine in the Urals,” one of the team members, Yury Yudin, fell ill and was forced to remain behind at the settlement of Vizhai, which was the last outpost before the Otorten range.
Yudin hugged his comrades goodbye and with envy watched them leave. Scarcely could he imagine at the time that he would the lucky one.
Later in life Yudin would claim that the one thing that had haunted him the most over the years was not being able to discover what kind of diabolical force stole the lives of his friends; a fate he would have shared were it not for his unexpected illness.

Two day after embarking on their adventure, the nine remaining athletes — including engineers Rustem Slobodin, Georgyi Krivonischenko and Nicolas Thibeaux-Brignollel, as well as students Yuri Doroshenko, Zinaida Kolmogorova, Lyudmila Dubinina and ski instructor and guide, Alexander Zolotarev — all followed Dyatlov toward the first stop on their long and grueling journey, the Gora Otorten mountain.
The date was January 28, 1959. The team would never make it to their destination… and none of them would ever be seen alive again.

On February 11, 1959, The Dyatlov Ski Team was supposed to arrive in Vizhai. Among their first orders of business, following a hot meal and a stiff drink, were to send their loved ones telegrams announcing the success of their mission.

When no telegrams were received, most of the team’s family members were not concerned, realizing that journeys like this rarely end on schedule, but when over a week went by with no word from the skiers, their relatives began to demand that the Ural Polytechnic Institute organize a search and rescue operation, which they did posthaste.

Within days it became clear that the institute’s ground based initiative would not be able to produce any results on their own and that was when both military and civilian authorities got involved in the search. Military planes and helicopters were swiftly dispatched to the area and it was on February 25, that a pilot first spotted something curious on a mountainside below.

The next day the search party — including fellow Polytechnic student Mikhail Sharavin — made their way up to an abandoned encampment on the eastern slope of a mountain listed as “1079.”

The foreboding peak is better known to the indigenous Mansi tribesmen as “Kholat Syakhl,” which (prophetically perhaps) translates from their native tongue as the “Mountain of the Dead.” The would-be rescuers discovered a badly damaged tent and a plethora of footprints made by what appeared to be at least eight different people radiating out from the devastated tent. Sharavin then described the state of the large tent that the skiers all shared: “We discovered that the tent was half torn down and covered with snow. It was empty, and all the group’s belongings and shoes had been left behind.”

The search party members quickly realized that the tracks consisted of either bare or sock clad feet and, in one case, a single shoe. Two sets of prints led down a slope toward a densely forested area, but the tracks were covered by snow roughly 1,500 feet away from the tent.
Sharavin followed the trail and found the remains of a fire beneath a looming, ancient pine… and with it something much worse.

Near the long dead fire were the frozen remains of team members Doroshenko and Krivonischenko. The searchers noted with utter bewilderment that even though the men were well within range of the now ravaged tent both men were naked and shoeless, save for their underwear. The investigators also saw that the branches of the old pine had been snapped off up to a height of almost 15-feet.

Forensic tests later confirmed that traces of skin were found embedded in the bark, indicating that the pair had frantically attempted to climb the tree, snapping off branches until their hands were mass of pulpy flesh.

At this point the searchers no doubt began to wonder what manner of “beast” could scare these men so much that they abandoned their clothes, despite the freezing cold, and tore the skin from their palms in a desperate attempt to get to safety. The fact that there were no evident animal tracks and that they had the time to try and start a fire, combined with the fact that the bodies of the men remained untouched only heighted the searchers puzzlement.

Not long after the party found the bodies of Doroshenko and Krivonischenko, they stumbled across the corpse of team leader Dyatlov nearly 900-feet away from the other cadavers, but somewhat closer to the tent. Dyatlov was on his back; one hand was clinging to an undersized birch tree branch while his other hand, locked in ice and rigor mortis, appeared to be protecting his head from some unknown assailant.

Half buried in the snow not far from the tent was the body of Rustem Slobodin, which rescuers found lying face down in the snow. Slobodin’s skull bore a deep fracture nearly 7-inches long; nevertheless medical experts later determined that the most likely cause death was hypothermia, which only compounded the befuddlement of the volunteer and military search party participants.

The carcass of Zinaida Kolmogorov was turned up the furthest away from the group. Traces of blood were found near her corpse, yet it was not revealed if she was its source, although that conclusion would seem likely. The rescuers could not understand why there was no evidence of a struggle.

The party continued their efforts to locate the rest of the team, but a lengthy search for the remaining members turned up nothing. The men on the site could not comprehend why a group of experienced skiers would dash half-naked into the bitter cold of the forest in the black of night. Nor could they fathom the kind of terror that must have inspired these young people to act so recklessly.

Even more perplexing was the fact that the searchers, after inspecting the severely damaged tent, came to the conclusion that the material had been torn from the inside, as if its occupants had been frantic to escape from something that was already sealed in the tent with them or were in such a rush that unclasping the tent from the inside was not an option!

Amidst the broken wood, shredded canvas and debris of the ravaged tent, investigators discovered rolls of undeveloped film and the journals of a few of the expedition members, but rather than helping to illuminate the truth, these finds would only add more layers to this already dense mystery.

After two months of fruitless searching, the spring thaw finally set in and the weather let up enough to reveal the corpses of the missing team members in a ravine situated some 225-feet from the pine that served as an arboreal memorial to Doroshenko and Krivonischenko.
The four lost skiers — instructor Alexander Zolotaryov, engineer Nicolas Thibeaux-Brignollel and students Alexander Kolevatov and Ludmila Dubinina — were discovered buried beneath 12-feet of snow and ice. All had apparently succumbed to brutal internal injuries. Unlike their friends who had perished above, these victims were all fully dressed.

As in the case of Slobodin, Thibeaux -Brignollel’s skull showed evidence of having been struck by a heavy object. Zolotarev and Dubunina’s chests had been crushed inward, shattering several ribs and causing massive internal damage. Strangely there were no indications of what may have caused this severe trauma and, even more bizarrely, the corpses showed no signs of bruising or soft tissue damage.

Doctor Boris Vozrozhdenny, who inspected the bodies, stated that the force with which these corpses were hit exceeded that capable by man and went on to claim that the damage: “…was equal to the effect of a car crash.”

The searchers were startled to observe that Dubinina’s head was tilted back; her stretched mouth wide as if emitting a silent scream. Upon closer inspection the rescuers realized that her tongue had been ripped out by the root.

They also noted that at some point these poor individuals had either exchanged or stolen the clothing off their comrades as Dubinina’s foot was swaddled in a tattered piece of Krivonishenko’s wool pants and Zolotaryov was found wearing Dubinina’s faux fur hat and coat. The searchers were unsure if this was the result of dressing too swiftly in a dark tent or a case of scavenging articles of clothing from deceased teammates.
At the funerals that soon followed the discovery of the bodies, many family members claimed that the skin of the deceased bore an unnatural orange color and, even more disturbingly, most reports insisted that their hair had lost its pigmentation and was a dull shade of grey. Skeptics claim that the orange skin was caused by exposure and that the hair had not lost its color, but it’s interesting that so many of the bereaved relatives took the time to notice these strange features.
