i saw this on the straylight run forum and i thought it was a great question...

which john nolan u like better...the tbs version or the straylight version?
my answer is i like the straylight version...even though his screams and backups for tbs went perfectly with the music i feel his sheer passion and amazing voice as well as his lyrics have gotten so much better...i feel as a whole he has gotten so much better

both bands are incredible so it doesnt really matter which "version" of john is better

Even though I agree the question is a little awkward...I'm going to say Straylight Run. I didn't like his screaming in TBS, it sounded forced...although I still liked the songs a lot. I wouldn't call his voice "amazing," though - it's fairly weak.

His song writing skills are definitely respectable...no question there. His musical abilities overall are impressive. I just don't think he has a great voice, that's all. I still think he makes some great music, though.

His voice seems to go off key a lot, which actually sounds good with the music, in my opinion...

i like his songs for straylight run but i like listening to him in tbs. so it's kind of a tie for me.

I hate them.

And here is why -

A long time a go, when they were not big at all I saw them play because I was forced to. I yelled at them, which I shouldn't have. And he pointed at my T-Shirt and said go listen to your crappy music and you will be begging to talk to us in a few fuckin' months because we will be huge.

I was wearing my Circle Takes The Square shirt and anyone that doesn't like them is simply an idiot.
