Jimmy Eat World with special guests Moneen
July 4, 2008
The Sound Academy, Toronto ON
I was stoked for this show since JEW and Moneen are two of my favourite bands. However, I was disappointed in Moneen because they only played six songs, when I was expecting so much more. They were the only two bands playing that night and there was no curfew at the venue that I was aware of. As usual, Moneen rocked it, even if it was only for 25-30 minutes. They played one new song from the upcoming record, which sounded quite good. The new drummer seemed to fit in nicely as well. Perhaps his "new-ness" was a reason for the shorter set. Anyway the setlist is as follows:
Don't Ever Tell Locke What He Can't Do
The Great Escape (new song)
Are We Really Happy With Who We Are Right Now?
This Is All Bigger Than Me
The Passing Of America
Start Angry...End Mad
After a half-hour of anticipation, Jimmy Eat World stepped on stage. They were fantastic. The crowd was really into it and they played an even balance of old and new songs. I think they even threw in a couple more songs than they had been playing the first few nights of the tour. It was nothing short of amazing. Here's the setlist (i'm pretty sure its in the right order, and some people have been saying they didn't play Carry You like they did the in Kitchener and Montreal, but I can't remember now that the weekend has passed):
Big Casino
Sweetness
Crush
Work
Always Be
Dizzy
Blister
Here it Goes
A Praise Chorus
Disintegration
Get it Faster
Let it Happen
Carry You
23
Your New Aesthetic
Lucky Denver Mint
Bleed American
Pain
ENCORE:
Hear You Me
Goodbye Sky Harbor
Futures
The Middle
