Motion City Soundtrack (http://www.motioncitysoundtrack.com) will hopefully start recording their next album in October and will be produced by Mark Hoppus (Blink-182 (http://www.blink182.com)) and engineered by Ryan Hewitt. This was gathered from my interview with them last night that will be typed up and posted as soon as possible.

And yes, this will be Mark's first attempt at producing.

It's a fine opportunity and a nice name to throw around, but personally I would have stuck with Ed Rose.

Mark has been in music for a while now, why don't we give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume that he has learned enough information to produce an album.
im sure he has enough information and knowledge to produce an album, but he doesnt have any experience, and experience = good product. i dont want a motion city album, i want a motion city album that is as good/better then the first. i cringe at the idea of Mark Hoppus being in charge of one of the most enjoyable bands ive heard in awhile.
i wish that interview had not of happend already cause my question would be...
is Mark's influence going to make the album more pop or dark?
if the answer to that is dark, then i would say produce away mark

I think a producer has less of an influence than you guys are implying here. In the end, all final decisions on any matter are going to be MCS's and MCS's only. I'm sure Mark will help out, give ideas, etc., but it's still going to be MCS's ass if the album is shit.

i thought mark did some producing for FTX's self-titled? not the whole album, but maybe a few songs.

listen hes made like 7 or 8 cds..i think he must have some experience. Not to mention the 9 month recording of the new album - mark tom and travis did a lot of hands-on stuff with that record

this should be interesting. i think mark deserves more credit. he's been in blink for 12 years, so he has experience. he won't be in total control anyway. good luck to mark and mcs.
