Help solve this argument between my brother (ArtfullyAborted) and myself.
Which band is better in terms of talent and songwriting (both musically and lyrically).

I like both bands equally.

hit the lights. not easily but yeh im going with them. after hearing their new album its clear to me that HTL know how to write killer hooks. ATL sound boring in comparison if you ask me. all songs are too similar and alex's vocal range is very limited. go HTL

Hit The Lights when they had their old singer.
skip school start fights puts you to sleep about 2/3 of the way through, it hits you like wait am i still listening to something? it all sounds like one song and nick cant carry the band in my opinion. they sure have their own little sound but it is far too boring to me. with alex's vocals at least i can be excited to hear what he is going to spew out next
Extremely tough choice, but I'm going to say All Time Low.

ATL fo sho.
HtL aren't bad by a long shot, but the new album just doesn't do it for me..
So Wrong, It's Right is nothing short of amazing.
Vocals. Lyrics. Instrumentation. It's all there.
It hasn't left my car stereo for weeks.

They're both good. But I went with ATL because of their first full-length The Party Scene. imho, it tops anything HTL has put out. Plus, they did that record when they were seventeen, which is pretty insane to think about. Vocally, I think Alex is a lot better than Nick or Colin- they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. Lyrically, I think ATL is just *this much* more clever than HTL nowadays, although on their older stuff I would say ATL's advantage lyrically was more substantial.
Musicianship wise I would say HTL is far and away better, but it's pop punk, so the musicianship really only takes you so far.

HTL's old CD I enjoyed a lot when it first came out, ATL just plain has never came out with anything to get excited about.

This is really tough. All Time Low's The Party Scene and Put Up or Shut Up are amazing albums. Their newest, not so much. Hit The Lights has produced two amazing albums and a pretty good third. They're probably very equal. I've also had the most fun at both ATL and HTL sets in the past. I can't decide...

I couldn't disagree with you more. New HTL is not on par with their old stuff but I think they'll work it out and grow. New ATL will never be on par with their old. You calling Put Up or Shut Up garbage is just ridiculous.
