don't take anti depressants. every kid these days gets diagnosed with that shit. when i was on them, i just gained weight, felt weird all day, and i think it actually made me worse off. your hormones are changing and shit, you're going through growth spurts and whatnot. everyone wants to overmedicate adolescents so that they don't have to deal with them. they try to make them into fucking zombies. i'm not pulling some tom cruise shit here and telling you medicine like that is wrong, i'm just saying evaluate yourself. do you feel you really need it?

DON'T TAKE ANTI DEPRESSANTS OR ANY ADHD MEDICATIONS!

All they are all just drugs, that can AND WILL fuck with you severely!

My friend turned into a completely different person after anti depressants.
And ADHD meds turned me into a depressed zombie for two terrible years.

Seriously, depression is easy to get over if you try to get over it, ADHD is more difficult, but if you work hard you can get through that too. I'm living proof.

Please, for the sake of everyone who enjoys spending time with you, DON'T TAKE THESE MEDS!

I don't know anything about insomnia, but I'm sure those meds can't be good either.

Yeah dude, they're super shitty stuff. I remeber HATING my friend while he was on them. He just became super annoying, and he said he couldn't control his actions. He said he hated himself, ironically making him more depressed. When he stopped taking them, he went fucking crazy, threatening to kill me and my friends and all this other shit. He has calmed down since, but he's still a little different.

I've been put on several different anti-depressants over the past few years. I quit taking them after about a week every time. I always felt like everything was wrong and i couldn't do anything right but on the pills there's still those feelings but it's like they're molding your face into a smile. It's pointless. Being diagnosed with depression at seven and later on dsythmia makes for an interesting childhood. I say only take the pills the day of an appointment so they think you're totally okay. works every time.

Insomnia might be the only correct diagnosis there. ADHD and depression are extremely overdiagnosed...I guarantee I could have faked my way into getting Ritalin and anti-depressants. It's called puberty.

Anti-depressants were the best thing that happened to me. When I was 14 I started on anti-depressants, and continued to take them until I was 18. My insomnia was a side effect of my depression. So, once I was on the pills, I slept like a normal person.
My insomnia is back, but I am certainly not depressed anymore. I battle the insomnia by getting up early, working out regularly, and avoiding caffeine. I've never been a napper, but I could go days and days with only 3 or 4 hours of sleep and feel fine, but being awake so much was driving me crazy.

How long did you have to wait for adhd investigation? I've waited 6 months, and they'll start the testing in about a month or so. The important thing is that you get help. The diagnoses doesn't really matter that much. They might help you to understand yourself a bit though.

And you're just 14? Something went wrong in the making... Sorry to hear that, i've had/have the same issue I guess. I don't take anything for it though, I refuse to. Be careful because the meds tend to make things worse.

You might want to look into the over the counter supplement called 5-HTP for your depression. It's an amino acid that helps your body produce seratonin (the chemical which makes you feel normal/happy). I've been taking it for years after being diagnosed with clinical depression and it's helped tremendously. It costs about $30 a bottle but it's been a real lifesaver for me because it has no side effects, unlike Prozac.

Those are three cases of conditions created by man in order to fuel a drug based medical field. Get some will and determination and stop relying on people to tell you how you are and how you have to be in order to be happy or content, or to enjoy your life. Whatever you want to call it. Start focusing yourself on things, start going through a daily routine that promotes activity, and self-awareness. Keep yourself active and busy to avoid the things that trigger certain reactions. And most of all, fuck doctors.

There may be people who truly suffer from these. Most cases are people creating problems in their lives and reacting to them in a negative way. Depression can be controlled without the use of medication, and to say that a high percentage of Americans are depressed is giving us too much credit. Feeling sorry for ourselves and projecting our problems onto others isn't depression. It's irresponsible. So, most people's idea of what depression is, is "created". And, as far as insomnia goes, I stay up very, very late. I usually work fairly early in the morning, I know how much this sucks. If I wanted to go to sleep seven hours ago I could have. Again, I feel that most people don't use the energy their body is capable of generating, so they have it all left over at the end of the day when they are calming down. Insomnia wasn't a well known "condition" before the 1900's and the evolution of the office job and other pencil pushing occupations.

I believe that is should be your decision if you take them or not even though some may say that you're "too young to know any better" or whatnot. Just do your research and if you do decide to take them remember that for some anit-depressants it takes a few weeks for them to kick in, so it'll take some time to notice any difference.
