Everyone is talking about the last episode of Friends. Yeah I watched it...only because I used to watch the show a few years ago when it was funny. I wanted to see how it ended even though I could have predicted the outcome years ago. Everyone is saying Friends is the best sitcom ever and will be horribly missed. Well I beg to differ..."Seinfeld" was lightyears beyond "Friends". And although the last episode of that show wasn't too funny...it was an unpredictable end to a perfect show.
Who the hell woulda guessed the show would end with everyone going to jail?
I believe Seinfeld was the superior show...what do you think?

Overall, Seinfeld was a better show... but the reason I like Friends more is because of the fact that I can relate to the characters more and a lot of their experiences, especially with the whole 6 best friends thing because my closest relationships are with 6 people. Seinfeld is f*ckin hilarious though... Kramer is the shit, great actor.

Friends > Seinfeld

i never found seinfeld to be that funny

Seinfeld was genius though...it was a show with no real plot. Yet it lasted for at least 10 years I think. I dont know how the writers came up with so many great ideas for episodes. With "Friends"...the plots from each episode kind of connected with each other...it was like one looooong story. With "Seinfeld" it was like they started from scratch on each show...Kramer always had some crazy ass plan up his sleaves...Jerry and George always found themselves in this unbelievable situations. And Elaine was just like the perfect woman. She was one of the guys.
I connected with the Seinfeld characters more than the Friends characters. You felt like you knew what they were thinking at all times because you knew them so well. Like when George went with Elaine to get a massage and that big guy came out and said "Come on in George."...you knew George wasn't gonna like the idea of being massaged by a dude haha.

"Jerry...it...it moved." hahaha

Friends - bunch of yuppies making adolescent sex jokes

Seinfeld - Great writing and very entertaining. So what if you don't laugh at an episode? It's still great how they put the whole plot together at the end.

Seinfeld is easily one of the greatest sitcoms ever. Friends was just lame. My math teacher was nearly in tears the day of the series finale. She spent like 10 minutes talking to us about it. It was pretty funny.

No denying that. That's why I said overall Seinfeld was better because it was clearly a better-written comedy. But I could relate to a lot of the things going on in Friends, especially the whole falling for the best friend (as Joey did with Rachel)... and it seemed like the characters of Friends were closer to my age, or at least acted as if they were closer to my age, than those of Seinfeld.

Friends is and always will be the stupid man's comedy. The only reason people liked it is because they could connect with the idiotic characters (Which were horribly boring by the way.)

Ross is the worlds biggest world who somehow manages to get Rachel.
Rachel is the biggest airhead in the world.
Monica is an insane, anal, clean/control freak which makes truly ready for a spinsters life (Her marrying Chandler is just retarded.)
Joey is border-line retarded.
Phoebe is a nice, slutty, also border-line moron. She's the least used character though.
Chandler is halfway decent. He used to be funny, but when they made him marry Monica he became a whipped, humorless, mommas boy.

Atleast Gunther was ALWAYS funny.

Seinfeld was great though.

I think the funniest moment in Friends history was when Chandler was trying to make Gunther his new best friend...and Gunther said "What's my last name?" and Chandler said "Gunther...Central Perk?" haha
As for Seinfeld...theres no way to choose a favorite moment...there are way too many.

I never said Friends is better, though to me it is... because I've tried to watch Seinfeld and I just never "connected" to that show... it never interested me so yeah to me, Friends is better.

both shows are hilarious. probably two of the best sitcoms to hit tv. i prefer friends over seinfeld for a few reasons. one being that, yes, they are easly relatable to our own life. i know someone just like everyone of those characters. sad but true. i mean the comedy isn't "smart" comedy as some would refer to. it is pretty straight forward, but the cast delivers it well. they work together well. as sad as this may sound, i just enjoy looking at the friends cast more. i mean, george castanza....short fat and bald. jennifer aniston...none of the latter. :) they are just all around likeable people. so in short...i prefer friends.

I can relate to George...I may not be ugly, fat, or bald...but I do get fucked over alot...I am very stubborn...and boy can I tell a good lie.

I personally can't stand either of them... Seinfeld just wasn't funny for me- I can't stand the premise that absolutely nothing happen in any episode and the entire show is based around retarted plays on words and embarrasing circumstances... but don't even get me started on Friends- the show is succesfull because it is targeted towards that large percentage of the american population that has a slight case of down syndrome.

The problems with a lot of sitcoms in my opinion is that they get serious as years go one like Home Improvment for example. Friends was no exception. The last 3 or 4 years of it have been more of soap opera cliff hangers rather than just a funny show.

That's what I liked about Seinfeld. It never had serious episodes or serious seasons for that matter. They always had original ideas with each character running their own story in side of an episode, and at the end all the pieces fit together.

seinfeld hands down. nobody on friends was half as funny as kramer was. and every episode of seinfeld is classic, frieds had alot of so-so shows.

I watched both, but I think overall, Seinfeld was the funniest every season. Friends had a few seasons in there where nothing interesting was going on at least to me, and Seinfeld never fell behind. I can still watch re-runs of Seinfeld and laugh like I did the first time I saw it, unlike some of the Friends ones.

Bwahahahhaha.... I really can't be bothered to decide between Friends and Seinfeld. I used to watch them both like it was my job back in the day. Good quality laughs. So I'm not voting. :lipsrseal

I'm astonished (yes, astonished) that people can actually say Friends is better than Seinfeld. But I won't make fun of those people, they do that well enough by themselves.

But anyways, the British have a show that is sort of like friends called "Coupling" (Anyone watch? It's on at 10 central, PBS, on Sundays) with a few exceptions
A) It's all about sex
B) It's got that british wit, you know what I mean.
C) It's actually funny.

Seriously, I recommend you watch it, NBC tried to do an American Version of the show but it crashed.

Ha! I saw an episode of the British Coupling. It was pretty funny. One thing that was screwed up though was there was a woman whose character was supposed to be extremely desirable to the audience, however she had fucked up teeth.

I'm sure when British audiences watch this, it's nothing. But when American audiences watch it, it completely undermines the purpose of her character. Every time she spoke, I couldn't stop watching her mouth and thinking "Ewwww..."

Definetely Friends...I mean don't get me wrong Seinfeld is great....I watch all 3 reruns every night because my dad is obsessed...It is just that they are all too anal retentive for me...Friends is just hilarious and their problems are more realistic and something you can relate to easier...rather than Seinfeld, when they have problems like Asian Men being stuck in a chest of drawers, and who digs up a dead bird anyways?
