When you look at gay rights. You also have to look at people who don't want gay rights. This is a democracy right. Some people believe homosexuality is ok, some are raised in a fashion to believe that it is wrong. You can descriminate against one group, or descriminate against the other, either way you are shorting someone's rights. The question is, who's rights should be shortened, the majority, or the minority, in most cases, the minority wins, which is total bullshit.

well yeah but you know that argument is completely flawed. you could use with that just about every case ever. there are some people who think that beating their wives senseless daily is right and others who also believe that molesting three year old children is ok. that doesn't mean we can't punish them or whatever...is that "discriminating?"
i can't believe anyone could try and defend this.

what happened to all men are created equal, and the the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness? most of the time the minority is right from an ethical standpoint, i know you think it's bullshit but some people like to see the constitution auctually followed.

That commission vote in March, although reversed two days later, changed Diana Cunningham's life.
Although commissioner J.C. Fugate clearly explained his motion to ban gays in March, members of the panel have since said they thought their first vote was only to show support for state lawmakers banning same-sex marriages.
More than 40 law enforcement officers provided security at Saturday's event in the rural community about 35 miles north of Chattanooga. Police Chief Kenneth Walker said two anti-gay demonstrators were arrested at the park entrance on charges of disorderly conduct and interfering with a special event when they refused his order to leave.
if you guys would read the article you would see that this was a mess up and not really acted on.....its funny that "yahoo" or "ap" didn't mention that in their titles...
And although I don't agree with baring "gay marches"....I do think that they need to held to the same "decency" standards that all other marches are held to, and if they don't, then they should be shut down, for the sake of the community....

Giving gays rights in no way affects the lives of those who don't want them to have rights. You are not "discriminating" against a group just because you're doing something they don't support. Saying you're "discriminating" against people who don't want gay rights is like discriminating against those who didn't want blacks to have any rights. Their lives were never affected by it, and history proved that.

I wasn't taking a side on the issue, I was just making a statement. Making homosexuality illegal would be senseless. It's been going on since like....the greeks or somethin. If you wanna be gay, more power to you, and it's always cool to have a gay friend, because they are usually funny. The only problem I have with the Homosexual world at this point is there constant protesting against things. Like how in Canada the bible is classified as hate literature towards them. I mean, that's just taking it to far, it's not like the bible just came out or somethin, it's been around forever. I'm pretty sure if you read the koran it probably has something in there against homosexuality to, but the muslim community in america/canada is kinda small, so I guess even if it did it wouldn't matter much because there wouldnt be such coverage of it. I think it is rather disturbing that they would try to make homosexuality illegal as well as most of you do, but you gotta remember, it's the south. As far as equal rights and discrimination, things still aren't where they should be, there are 2 or 3 generations of people who still have that white heterosexuals are better than other races ingrained in them from child hood. Give it some time.

You're right, a lot of people are still living in the past and need to realize that as time goes on, things WILL change.
