Don't know how long it'll be up for, but it looks fucking sweet. Saw some signature Max Payne poses from Marky Mark already. All in all, I'm excited. It feels a bit different to me, but it has that dark noir feel. I just think it feels like there's a lot more sunlight and a lot less snow in this, which gives it a totally different mood cause the snow was basically another character. This is my favorite game and I think this flick will be pretty good.

Dude this game was made to not only be a tight ass game, but it's so movie like. I like Wahlberg as Max Payne. I dont know why. But I think the Hawk dude thing is just supposed to be like artsy in the trailer. Otherwise I dont really know but it looks badass as fuck.

This looks amazing. As long as they capture that film noir feeling from the game I have a feeling this movie is going to be a hit. But what was with the angels and stuff? I don't remember that ever being in Max Payne.

This looks AMAZING, both were great games, they were hands down the best games Ive ever played in terms of setting moods, and the environment being lifelike, almost its own character like somebody else said earlier. The dream and hallucination sequences in the games are mindblowingly good. And this looks like its going to capture that perfectly.

As I said when this was posted in the TDK thread, this to me is about 3 years too late. The underwater segment seems to be a blatant Bourne Ultimatum rip-off too. Either way, I like Whalberg and this looks like it has potential and could be decent.

The trailer looks pretty cool and Mark Wahlberg is perfect for the role but does anyone else think that this being rated PG 13 will make the movie not nearly as good as it could be?

I'm thinking metaphoric. They wouldn't add supernatural to this, I don't think. When you see them, it's always involving a death, like at the end where Max shoots the dude out the window, the angel catches him and pulls him away...

There was a segment in the video game from 2001, where he was in a pool drowning from being knocked out and discussing his life if I remember correctly. Not to even mention that entire scene has been done tons of times in previous films, Bourne Ultimatum wasn't the first.

and the people talking about having bullet-time just to have it; well that was the single main focus of the video game. Plus throughout the game he suffers from allusions about Norse mythos and Ragnarok, along with other demons. I hope they actually use the games storyline because it was highly entertaining in my opinion.

Yea, but The Happening did and we saw how that went. I really loved everything from MKS up until The Happening and the same goes for Whalberg's past 5 years or so. I just hope Max Payne is good (which it really does look decent) because I don't want to see him decline in popularity because of a string of mediocre movie selections.

On a side note I remember Max Payne and another game came out around the same time with the slow motion shootout feature...anyone remember what the other one was called? I remember LOVING that game.

im cautiously optimistic.

marky mark turned out to be a much better actor than anyone expected, and he looks good in the promos as payne. not sure about Kunis, maybe if she doesnt talk much, heh.

if nothing else, they've got the 'film noir'-style down pat - the cinematography should be excellent.

Uhm, I didn't think this was that good. Maybe that's because I was a HUGE fan of the video game, but also because the acting was shit for the most part. They left a lot of stuff out that should have been included.

Also, I really thought there was too much talk and the editing was weak as hell.

Great visuals and the actual action scenes were good...just few and far between.

I saw it, dunno how I feel about it. It's good, but had potential to be amazing like the games.

Problems with it:
1. The dreams that were the shitty levels in the game were nowhere to be seen.
2. Narration, except for beginning which I loved.
3. They fucked up the actual story, taking out most of the stuff that made it interesting and leaving "a cop goes looking for the killer of his wife and baby" which is, let's face it, not too original.
4. The director should have never been let near this film, what a joke.
5. The idea with the illusions of the birds was a good idea, but was taken way too far. The end where he screams at the ceiling which becomes a sky on fire and so on was laughable. I think I laughed all through it.
6. I would've liked more characters from the game that they didn't twist. Where was all the gangsters and so on from the games?!

I just wish someone else had written, I enjoyed the movie but this could have been amazing. It didn't feel like Max Payne. They need a different writer and director if they do another.

i just got back from seeing it. i have to say i enjoyed it. the dark atmosphere and visuals kept me reeled in. that and the fact that i was happy to see that marky mark was back to being a badass again.

oh and having jackie and sucre in the movie was awesome too.

Basically how I felt. If I had never played Max Payne, this would have been better. But knowing the video game like I do, this was lame.

Where was the hotel scene?!?

Amen. My friend, who never played the games liked it more than I did.

I wanted the gangsters and the subway part. They had so much they could've done. Who the fuck let this man write it? Haha.

Just got back from it.

Essentially it's Sin City meets Constantine meets Iron Man (friend's betrayel) meets every other comic book/video game movie. But I loved it.
Well, that's the story from the game, and the game was a pretty good original idea.

I heard that the Punchinello's aren't even in the movie. Wtf?
No ragnarok either?

I haven't seen the movie yet, but i was thinking of picking it up on Blu-Ray. I think it'll look really sick visually? any think it'll be a good buy?

Not a very visually pleasing movie.

Really? my friend sent me a link to www.theworldofpayne.com (http://www.theworldofmaxpayne.com). The movie looks pretty cool IMO, in the same vain of Sin City and i really dug the movie. I don't really know a lot about the plot though. What's it like?

Coming together to solve a series of murders in New York City are a DEA agent whose family was slain as part of a conspiracy and an assassin out to avenge her sister's death. The duo will be hunted by the police, the mob, and a ruthless corporation.

Sounds like it could be really good. I never have high expectations for Mark Wahlberg movies and that's why I always enjoy them.

MovieMan: I told them I didn't like Benjamin Button and they got pretty upset.

Round Table of Movie Producers (rubbing their chins): Hmm....

This:

He's gathering information so that he can make the unltimate film, that will appeal to each and everyone on the planet. He's already exhausted all other forms of research, which is why he's resorted to ap.net.

LOL. Just read these for the first time and laughed out loud.

Also, got this in my Netflix today. Going to watch it in a bit.

Have his antics stopped? Any time I see him post around here anymore it's in a somewhat normal context so I'm left thinking he's become a normal poster now. Except for the Bernie mac thing (which, apparently, was legit).

No idea. Not sure what the Bernie Mac thing is either.

And this wasn't too bad I guess. The cinematography was well done.

Went to redbox the day this came out, mindless violence and walhberg. But boy did this movie suck. The filming was half assed, it was edited by an idiot, most of the violence was off screen, and that bitch from that 70's show was in it. Yuck. Easily one of the worst movies I saw all year.

She's typecast. Jackie she is and Jackie she shall die. Who the fuck would cast her in a tough guy role? The whole time I just pictured her worring about her nails.
