I was split between Bright Eyes and Brand New. The only criteria for getting on this list was that the band was in my personal top 10.

People criticised me for posting a music video in this section of a previous poll. So this space will remain boring instead :-)

fall out boy, for nostalgic purposes...

07/10/08, 04:49 PM
I think Bright Eyes, and maybe Brand New are the only ones i'd still listen to. I'm already starting to get sick of a lot of those bands; I really can't imagine myself listening to blink when i'm 47.

Blink has been my favorite band for years and, while that may not be the case forever, I'm sure I'll listen to them from time to time for at least nostalgia.

CTMarshall
07/10/08, 06:02 PM
Blink for the memories.

notoaststereo
07/10/08, 07:07 PM
more than likely, none of them.

adam289
07/10/08, 07:42 PM
Probably none of them.

Machu505
07/10/08, 07:45 PM
Bright Eyes cause Conor will just keep making music.

brand new and blink. no question about it.

MyNameIsRoss
07/11/08, 06:53 PM
Yeah, maybe Brand New, for nostalgia as well. Shit, who knows what I'll be listening to when the world is a Gaseous-Shit-Hole.

07/11/08, 09:17 PM
brand new- my all time favorite band. then bright eyes just because conor's music will never get old. and then...probably blink for obvious reasons. i doubt i'll listen to any of those bands (that i actually do now) in five years, besides the first my chem cd. it never gets old.

brandnew21g
07/12/08, 10:40 PM
how do more then half the ppl who voted for this poll not like bright eyes/bn/tbs/blink... not even one of these or the other bands ? jeeze

and ill prolly listen to bn and blink from time to time for the good times

Crosswind Ghost
07/12/08, 10:57 PM
None of these bands to me, make strong enough music to withstand the test of 30 years.

bailmeout13
07/13/08, 09:47 PM
Out of those choices, Fall Out Boy. Pretty darn sure I will still play Death Cab in 30 years though (so I think now anyway).

Alexx Miller
07/13/08, 10:37 PM
Blink, fo sho.

Neo Cassady
07/13/08, 11:32 PM
Bright Eyes, easily.

lindZ629

I won't be listening to any of these bands 10 years from now.

I say FOB..

xSpillFiction
07/14/08, 03:44 PM
Armor For Sleep, without a doubt. The only others I listen to on this list are TBS and the occasional Bright Eyes song.

tommyhaych
07/15/08, 03:06 AM
I chose brand new simply because they've never conformed to any genre popular at the time, yet still managed staggering popularity. That's the formula you need to be a succesful, band for a steady amount of time.

Ditto with Bright Eyes.

07/15/08, 06:22 AM
Logically I'll go with dashboard confessional, im sure at 53 years old I'll not enjoy high energy music. I don't listen to Bright Eyes, or Straylight that much now, so obviously I won't be listening to them.

Oddpac87
07/15/08, 07:25 AM
I will raise my kids on Brand New and Straylight Run the same way my father raised me on The Beatles and The Four Seasons.

etheritcher
07/15/08, 09:11 AM
the matches fersure
but i think maybe for the sake of all hips and fragile bones involved, i wont try to squeeze my way to the front

Somechild
07/15/08, 03:22 PM
The Matches for sure!

lauren<3s music
07/15/08, 07:39 PM
brand new with dc and old tbs at a close second

SumDude1117
07/16/08, 10:07 AM
Jimmy Eat World? Hands down. I will never stop listening to them

eucademix
07/16/08, 11:25 AM
i picked bright eyes because he seems like the likely choice but in reality, i think all of them aren't going to be around in 30 years.

White Noise
07/16/08, 12:58 PM
I won't be listening to any of these bands 10 years from now.

This.

MoChroi
07/16/08, 02:07 PM
Brand New...maybe The Matches if they come out with an album to redeem themselves.

EdTheSellout
07/16/08, 04:06 PM
I completely mis-read the poll. I thought it was saying which band will still be active 30 years from now. So, under that assumption, I voted for FOB. However, 30 years from now, I'll still probably be rocking out to Brand New.

augustana
07/16/08, 05:09 PM
probably slr, bright eyes and brand new because they all make excellent music. i say for brand new, i could only seriously listen to the devil and god 30 years from now because it really is a mature album.

DerekJeter2
07/16/08, 07:42 PM
I think blink-182 will easily outlast all of these bands...They started over 16 years ago and left their mark while ending about 3 years ago and they are still very widely listened to. Brand New hasn't been around nearly as long and hasn't left nearly as much of a mark. My second choice would be Dashboard Confessional.

11:11
07/16/08, 08:13 PM
Brand New makes me want to kick a baby. Im not normally that mean. I can't understand how they're winning.

Curtis&BemisRok
07/16/08, 09:05 PM
This was too hard. I watned to vote for TBS and the matches. and a few brand new songs. and maybe dashboard. I went TBS though

Warrenaissance
07/16/08, 10:42 PM
I wish Motion City Soundtrack was on this list.

07/17/08, 10:09 AM
Anyone who legitimately thinks these bands will last thirty year is retarded.

PubeyLewis
07/17/08, 12:57 PM
I'll like the bands I like now because I listen to what I want and don't give a crap what anyone else thinks. If you like a cheesy band so what, stick with bands you like. I'm tired of everyone who used to be in the punk/ska scene being so snobby and not listening to songs they grew up with because it's not what's "in." It used to be that in the scene people hated what was new, and now it's the opposite; people don't want to admit to listening to a band that was big a few years ago because of people going, "man you are so 3 years ago."

Radiology
07/17/08, 06:28 PM
Bright Eyes is the only one that will play in 30 years

Connor's the only one making music that is timeless that is on that list, the rest are just trendy bands (no offense Brand New and Dashboard, I love them but they're probably going to break up in a few years and fade away like the rest of the shitty bands that accompany them on this list)

drewziph
07/17/08, 06:49 PM
straylight run.

drewziph
07/17/08, 06:50 PM

TheDemosRock
07/19/08, 01:52 PM
Straylight Run is timeless.Wihtout a doubt.

I completely mis-read the poll. I thought it was saying which band will still be active 30 years from now. So, under that assumption, I voted for FOB. However, 30 years from now, I'll still probably be rocking out to Brand New.lol I did that too, you're not alone

im just saying that it seems to me like whenever people say anything bad about brand new on this site they get attacked by like 50 devoted fans
it just seems curious to me that so many people dont like a single one of those bands on that list
i didnt need a sarcastic comment from a 21 year old who still uses weird internet lingo like "u" rather than just typing out the full "you"

07/20/08, 06:08 PM
30 years is a long time........i chose blink, but i may take that back, i doubt i would listen to any of this when i am 55, but who knows, my dad still listens to meatloaf and the eagles on a regular basis, so maybe its possible.....we shall see

Yes. And?

Anyone who legitimately thinks these bands will last thirty year is retarded.

Who are you most likely to still be playing in 30 years time?

I wasn't suggesting they would still be around.

tragedyco
07/23/08, 04:58 PM
Oh i read this wrong. I thought it said "Who is most likely to still be playing in 30 years?"... was wondering how Blink would be in the top 3 and not playing now.

In that case, probably Brand New. Bright Eyes still playing in 30 years though i bet.

tragedyco

briewer
07/23/08, 06:27 PM
I wasn't suggesting they would still be around.

I didn't mean still touring "around", I meant it like the how the Beatles are "still around," as in still being musically relevant. What I'm trying to say is, all of these bands will be lost to the pages of history, and no one will know their names in ten years, much less thirty.

Anthony Lutz
07/23/08, 07:09 PM
I went with Bright Eyes on this one.
