to distribute binomials, use the "FOIL" method
(ax+b)(cx+d)
First: (ax)(cx)=acx^2
Outer: (ax)(d)=adx
Inner: (b)(cx)=bcx
Last: (b)(d)=bd
Then you add to get acx^2+adx+bcx+bd=acx^2+(ad+bc)x+bd

(a-b)/[(1/a)/(1/b)]
anyone? i'm trying to help my little brother, but I haven't had a math class in 4 years

I've never understood the "FOIL" method, and I've always found it stupid and confusing. It seems much easier to think of it as just taking the first number in the first polynomial and multiplying it by both numbers in the other, and then doing the same thing with the next number. It just seems silly to memorize something so intuitively easy.

Shouldn't it be a(a-b)/b?
Shouldn't it be a(a-b)/b?
or a^2/b - a

well in NY they're renaming the entire math course but math 3 is the math you take as a junior at my high school.

Ohh, thinks are really split up where i live and it doesn't go by grade. So "on level" for a soph is geometry, but i'm in precalc which is two above.

well it goes by level in my school too but i'm basically at the normal level for most juniors (math is my worst subject)
the normal level for freshmen is algebra and for sophomores it's geometry. i'm sure the level above me may be precalc. i'm guessing you're very good with math?

Algebra II comes after geometry for us.
Yeah math is my best subject, it just comes naturally to me. Can't say that about english lol.

It's basically the same level as AP except you don't get college credit.
Reg is easiest, then honors, then GT/AP

Yeah I do next year. They don't let you get college credit for 10th grade english.
I'm getting college credit for computer science, if that counts? lol

Oh right. Delhi doesn't do the whole junior college thing. I think its mostly just Mumbai.. ? So I'm still in school, and in commerce.
