Late last year, both Motion City Soundtrack and Limbeck went (separately) to Black Lodge Studios in Eudora, KS and recorded a song with producer Ed Rose. The catch is, that each band covered a song from the other band. The result is MCS’s version of the Limbeck song “The Sun Woke Up The Whole State” and Limbeck’s take on the MCS tune “Perfect Teeth.” They're coming out in the form of a split 7” due out on Blue Collar Distro (http://www.bluecollardistro.com) — a label owned and operated by our merch guy extraordinaire Sean Ingram (and from the band Coalesce) and Matt Pryor (singer of The Get-Up Kids). The release will be part of the label’s “Vinyl Nerd” limited edition series, and will come in the form of a Deluxe 7” & CD set that also includes a special postcard. Only 1,000 of these will be made, and they will only be available at and on tour with each band, while they last. Both songs will appear on one side of the vinyl, with the other side being a hand silk screened with the artwork mock-up seen below. Although no official release date has been set, the hope is that both bands will have the release in time for their West Coast tour together in mid-June.
The show scheduled for June 25 with Blink 182, The Used, and MCS has been moved to a new location and will now take place on June 22. Be sure to get your tickets now for the show at The Joint (inside the Hard Rock Hotel) featuring Blink 182 and Motion City Soundtrack — a rare experience of not only seeing Blink and MCS together on the same stage, but also your chance to see Blink in a much smaller venue than they normally would be playing!
If you haven’t heard, MCS will be hitting the road starting Thursday, May 20 in Detroit at the DTE Energy Music Theatre. The first night is part of the 89x birthday bash, and should be loads of fun. Please try to make it out to any of the shows and say hi. For more information and tour dates, go to our shows page.
You won’t want to miss the July (#192) issue of Alternative Press magazine. Our very own Justin Pierre will be featured in the magazine by giving relationship advice! Yes, relationship advice. We’re not saying that you have to follow it, but you should at least read it to see what he has to say. Also, be sure to pick up the current issue of AP and see the feature on our Mountain Dew/Amp/AP showcase at the South By Southwest Music Conference.. The magazine also comes with a free cd that features live versions of “Capital H” and “Red Dress”, as well as songs from Coheed & Cambria, Sparta, and more — all recorded live at the La Zona Rosa show in Austin, TX at South By Southwest.
