This is usually the week when a lot of major gaming announcements are made. My money's on a new Nintendo handheld.

their conference was confirmation of nearly every rumor that's slipped out of their offices since December-ish and a bunch of long overdue stuff that should've been done awhile ago i.e. new updates and what not.

everything else was to be expected minus the FFXIII surprise. the funny part is that no one is going to buy that game on 360. everyone was happy to see it, but the anticipated multi-disc set, lacking features from the PS3 version, and the fact that it's only being made for english speaking territories would deter me right away. thank goodness i bought a PS3.

the EA conference was okay. SIMS3, SPORE, Mirrors Edge and Peter Moore. it gave out on me a few times, but they said some pretty cool stuff. And i'm done with Valve. Gabe Newell needs to choke on his next triple cheeseburger.

there really isn't much left coming out of MS' camp. a few good games here and there, but nothing you can't get on PC and/or PS3. There was nothing in that conference to truly show that they are working to keep their lead in the "console race/wars" against the PS3. Netflix? are you serious? tv shows? folks, they're called TORRENTS, and the program is called MediaShare. It's apart of Windows Media Player. Try it sometime, yea? if that doesn't work, try NeroMediaServer or TVersity or one of the dozens of other programs that will let you watch the same stuff for FREE. lol

The sales on the 360's rpg games are atrocious. Lost Odessey, Blue Dragon, and there were two more i believe that were exclusive to the xbox360, but didn't move very many units at all, amazing games though they are. Blue Dragon was made by the FF team, and no one bought it. not enough for anyone to notice at least. and now they're taking Star Ocean and FF to this console and the cycle will repeat itself.

everyone says they'll buy it/they complain and whine and beg for it, and then when it's time for action, everyone stands around with that confused look on their face.

you're 2 of maybe a dozen that will genuinely buy this game when it comes out. that's why they're not releasing it on the xbox360 in japan. it's a tactic to stay in the $$$ and to silence the naggers that keep asking for it, but we all know it won't sell.

honestly, if these devs would just stop being so damn lazy and actually USE the PS3 dev kits and tools and R&D they've been provided with, we'd see some decent games on the PS3. KONAMI, EA, and a few others are just starting to find that out.

like it or not ease of use, and practical applications are big factors in the decision making process of most developers and publishers.
sure you could learn to be an ace ps3 programmer...but that takes alot of time and monetary investment and the code is only useful for the highly specialized ps3...meanwhile 360 programming requires the use of common coding language that takes a minimal amount of re-educating to work with thanks to its common hardware components.
asking buisnesses to put in more work for less pay makes no logical sense and they're simply not going to do it unless they have to. you could call it laziness or you could call it buisness, or just the realities of capitalism....but those aren't about to change just because sony wants them to.
you'd seriously think that sony would have known better after the way they were able to run sega out of the console buisness largely because of the fact that nobody wanted to put in the effort to get the most out of the saturn.

the fact that the game is only being released on XBOX360 in english-speaking countries i.e. North America and Europe struck me as it won't sell at least not the kind of numbers needed to make it's mark on the console itself. This was the kind of thing people complain about and then when they get it, they don't know what to do with themselves. Besides, by the time this game actually makes it's way to the XBOX360, i doubt anyone will be interested in it honestly. They've already said they're not working on the 360-port until the PS3 version is done, and who the hell knows when THAT will be? No release date, not even a window. Just a trailer. No confirmation of demos on the showfloor or anything. just trailer after trailer after trailer plus the fact that it's coming your way. This will be the equivalent of what happened to UT3 for 360 owners, but hey, to each his own. if you think the game is going to sell like hotcakes, then it must be the truth according to the gospel.

Lost Odyssey has sold over 100,000 copies in Japan. For a console that is barely even recognized overseas, particularly in Japan, I would say 100,000 should be considered a fair success. It's clear you're a PS3 supporter though, so I'll cut this short.

It's still a win for Microsoft that they were able to acquire what had been a more than a decade-long exclusive franchise...that only means good things for the future and who knows what kind of user base this game will get? The fact that they got it is a positive thing for the company and for their investors. Not only that, but remember GTA4? People thought that wouldn't sell as well off of a Sony platform.

I was only buying a PS3 for FFXIII. Sony just lost some huge support. I guess we can only hope there is some sort of Subsistence for 360. I know the discs don't have nearly the space to support it, but like I said, we can only hope.

Tomorrow morning we shall hear news from Bungie regarding (most likely) their next project. It will be interesting to see where they are planning on going, now that the current Halo trilogy (with the Chief) is for the most part wrapped up.

all their games are fine,they're just shafting anyone that doesn't have a 360. and then he goes on a rant about how everything else is obsolete blah blah blah. plus he sold out to EA XP

to sum up pages and pages and pages of bullshit, FFXIII just seemed like one of those extra games that wouldn't do well. SEEMED. It came across as an exciting announcement for 360 gamers with no sales numbers to back up the level of excitement.

also, the sales numbers were nice guys, but i was mostly talking about here in the english speaking territories mostly. It seems like a lot of RPG's don't sell well outside of Asia at all in general come to think of it so it kind of perplexes me why they keep releasing them on one console.

even the jrpgs have done decently on 360......blue dragon has sold more then a million copies worldwide, and lost odyessy has sold about three quarters of a million copies. not huge numbers but most of those copies were sold outside of asia and it's far more then a handful.

Just a few years ago 'pushed back to spring XX' meant it would keep getting pushed back until the next holiday season. I'm glad that companies realized that you can release games year round and still have great sales. Altought it does feel odd that the only holiday game (I can think offhand this second) I am really stoked for is Fallout 3 and Animal Crossing. edit: and Gears 2

Right now, I'm pretty excited for The Sims 3. I think it was featured at E3 but I'm not sure. And FFXIII. I just wish they would've said something about the new Kingdom Hearts games.
