For my schools kick off carnival I'm in charge of putting together a playlist that will play during the carnival....
It needs to be music everyone will like
I only know what I like
Ive so far got

what else?

and those are pretty generic bands....
go on amazon or itunes and type those bands in and then look at what people bought who bought that. easy. done. no metro station.
I do not know what can be taken as carnival music
but from the bands you listed: FOB and HelloGoodbye seem appropriate

Anberlin- "Adelaide", "Readyfuels", "Foreign Language"
Between the Trees- "Words"
Death Cab for Cutie- "I Was a Kaleidoscope"
Keane- "Is It Any Wonder"
Snow Patrol- "Run", "Chasing Cars"
OK Go- "Here It Goes Again", "Get Over It"
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus- "Face Down"
Hellogoodbye- "Touchdown Turnaround", "Homewrecker"
Green Day- "Welcome to Paradise"
Sanctus Real- "Don't Give Up"
Those songs are pretty poppy and sort of mainstream, but in my opinion not half as annoying as the bands you listed. I don't think most people would take offense to them and actually, I really like a lot of these songs. Maybe put a couple hit songs in like the Jonas Brothers (EW EW but whatever) or Sara Barielles and also put some songs you really like.
Or just do all heavy metal and say f*** you.
