He was a great guitarist, and one of my early influences. He didn't really do anything new on the guitar, but it was more the emotion he played with and the way he brought the blues to a whole new generation that made him so great.

One of the great blues guitarists of all time. My uncle has tapes upon tapes of his live performances as well as a mock-up of his signature strat, which plays wonderfully by the way. This guy on the guitar is everything John Mayer wishes he had the balls to be.

He's not the most exciting artist, and he didn't make the strongest records, but there's something to be said for skill and craft, and he really had them in spades.
