NIGHT ONE.

I went to the very first night of their Viva La Vida tour. It was at the Great Western FORUM in Inglewood,CA. I have to say, it was AMAZING. It was my very first time seeing Coldplay and it was everything I thought it would be and more. It was sold out so upon entering, the vibes were amazing. The crowd seemed very anxious for them to come out. I didnt catch the openers, I actually got into the Forum about 10 minutes before Coldplay came on. The lighting was unbelievable , the lasers went very well with the music. They had so much energy and I think they were definitely feeding off the energy from the crowd. The lighting, sounds and energy just made everything so much more enjoyable. Their visual effects were great as well. I loved how they didnt play only on the main stage. They set up a another stage somewhere in the middle of the crowd on the floor which was cool. And when Chris Martin got bored of playing on stage they ran all the way into the crowd and played Yellow Acoustically from what Chris called, the "cheap seats." I was a bit far as well but he was on the other side of the forum but I thought it was so cool that people had the chance to see them up close despite the fact that they were up in the "cheap seats." This has definitely been one of the highlights of my summer. They were amazing and even though it felt like they didn't play that long I was satisfied with the setlist. I also thought that the different pieces of confetti falling down during Lovers in japan made the song beautiful :]. They also have different scenes going on in the screen behind them. I know this is very vague but I'm tired but this was a great way to start their tour. :excited:

I'm pretty sure I got everything.

wow, was this even an hour and a half?

If they are going to charge U2/Springsteen prices, better step up to the plate and deliver 2+ hours.

Pearl Jam and 311 play longer than these dorks and they don't charge nearly as much.

They could fill a 2 hour set like this (not in this order obviously):

Don't Panic
Shiver
Yellow
Trouble
Sparks
Politik
In My Place
God Put A Smile On Your Face
The Scientist
Clocks
Warning Sign
Square One
Fix You
Talk
Speed Of Sound
Til Kingdom Come
42
Lost!
Lovers In Japan
Viva La Vida
Violet Hill
Or Death Of All His Friends

This concert was awesome, nothing beats 18,000 people singing along to the chorus of "The Scientist" or the "oh oh oh oh oh" in "Viva La Vida"

I got a setlist from one of the sound guys after the show, so here is the official set.

(Life in Technicolor)
Violet Hill
Clocks
In My Place
Viva La Vida
42
Yes
Scientist
Chinese Sleep Chant (B) [the little jam at the end of "Yes"]
God Put a Smile (B)
Square One
Speed of Sound
Trouble
Lost!
Strawberry Swing
Yellow (C.)
DWNC (C.)
-------------------
(Talk Remix) [i don't remember hearing the song, but there was a video of bill o'reilly criticizing chris martin, that was the main thing]
Fix You
Lovers in Japan
-------------------
Death and All His Friends
(The Escapist) [ending of death and all his friends]

(B) songs are when they played at the tip of the U of the U-shaped stage
(C.) songs are when they played in the stands
(These) songs are recordings except they did play instruments for "Life in Technicolor" after the intro
[these] are comments i added
and the first -------- is when they went back on stage from being in the stands
second --------- is the encore

it was like an 80 or 90 minute set. i agree for $80-120 you would expect a longer set, but they were so good, i really can't complain

Hey xamanderz (http://www.absolutepunk.net/member.php?u=163405) whats up? I was wondering what time you got there that you got there about ten minutes before they took the stage...i have to wait for my girlfriend to get to my house before i go, so we probably wont get there til late, but i want to make sure we wont miss the beginning of coldplay...thanks!
and the set sounds awesome! although i wish they would end with an older single instead of a new song like on the last tour (well they ended with fix you which was absolutely EPIC), but still.
