Hi all,

I'm from Europe but I'm about to travel across the west coast of US/Canada in about two weeks time. Seeing how many of the smaller bands I like never really come to Europe before they're on their third or fourth album or something (especially to Denmark where i Live), I'm looking to catch a bunch of shows during my travels.

The problem is, I don't know where to find concert listings, let alone tickets to any shows anywhere in North America. So I figured you guys could be of help. If you can give me links to the most popular venues (large size, medium size, small size and underground size) at San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver, I'd be thankful. That way I can browse through them to find the ones that interest me. Metal, punk, hardcore, alternative, indie.. anything goes.

Thanks guys!!

San Francisco:
Slim's (http://www.slims-sf.com)
Bottom of the Hill (http://www.bottomofthehill.com/calendar.html)
Cafe Du Nord (http://www.cafedunord.com/)
Great American Music Hall (http://www.gamh.com/)
The Independent (http://www.theindependentsf.com/)
The Fillmore (http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/229424)
The Warfield (http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/229423)

That's some of the major venues in San Francisco. There are so many venues in SF and the surrounding areas I'd have a mile-long post if I kept going.

Also, try here:

Seattle
El Corazon (http://www.elcorazonseattle.com/) The main one for smaller bands but still have some good bands play through
Studio Seven (http://www.studioseven.us/) If you are a metal fan this is the place to go, In the heart of the industrial district. Walking around there at midnight no one can hear you scream.
Showbox Sodo & Showbox Market (http://www.showboxonline.com/newwebsite/fullcalendar.html) Both of these are the bigger venue's in the Seattle area. Both are also pretty nice and clean and have a wide array of bands.
Chop Suey (http://www.chopsuey.com/) The smaller indie club in Seattle
Vera Project (http://www.theveraproject.org/) A non profit all ages venue almost every musician in Seattle has helped keep together.
Neumos (http://www.neumos.com/) The Capitol Hill hipster hang out, a lot of good bands play here though.

Also there are the Redmond Firehouse (http://www.theoldfirehouse.org/), Kirkland Teen Union Building (http://www.ktub.org/), and Bellevue's Ground Zero (http://www.absolutepunk.net/www.myspace.com/groundzeromusic)for teen centers which sometimes have good bands playing.

I think Neumos in my favorite place to watch bands. I just like going upstairs.

The Neumo's bar is pretty nice, Same with Studio Seven and Showbox at the market are also nice bars.

The showbox market is alot longer and is leveled so it can fit alot more people there.

I like Showbox, too - very spaced out.

Went to Studio Seven one time to see my friend's band play. They have a lot of shitty bands go there though, so not my kinda place - although I did like the upper deck.

Studio Seven is hit or miss with bands, also I have to leave every hour to make sure no one destroyed my car parking in those dark alleys.

thanks guys these are all really helpful links! Already found a bunch of shows I'm definitely going to:

The Suicide Final Tour 2008 featuring AT THE GATES
Darkest Hour, Municipal Waste, and special guests in Seattle on the 23rd,

Alkaline Trio in Seattle on the 30th

And perhaps The Dillinger Escape Plan in San Francisco on the 31st :)

Looking through the calendar's of those venues makes me jealous though over the amount of choice you guys have even within just two weeks, it's ridiculous :D

Also guys is there a way to buy tickets and collect them on the day (box office collection or something?) - kind of difficult to have them post them all the way down here and risk them not arriving before I leave?

If you buy them online, you can choose to collect them by willcall which means they will be there the day of the show. You just need to bring a form of ID and the Credit Card you used to buy them.
