No, but I'm very intrigued - I'll have to keep an eye out for next year! Are you planning to go?

Crimethinc is the shit. If I didn't have to work tonight I'd go.
Hah, drive 200 miles west for a convergence? This smells of capitalism.
(Seriously, though, I'd love to have gone but I'm stuck working at a burger king for another 5 hours today and can't afford to go anyways)

Cipriano Mera would roll over in his grave if he saw that the anarchists today are doing. I mean the local chapter of the IWW was busy trying to unionize Starbucks; because damn you can't get more industrial than a Starbucks. Let alone the fact that you have so called "anarchists" that are for gun control.

Crimethinc is a fucking joke. It's not anarchism at all. Their idea of revolution is shoplifting from hot topic.

Anarchism is merely the thought that people are able to govern themselves by use of social norms and such without the use for coercive state or government. It has nothing to do with stupid shit like this

i don't expect you to have read any of it, but there are seriously chapters that say "Everything changes when I shoplift. I'm no longer negotiating with faceless, inhuman entities that have no concern for my welfare; instead, I'm taking what I need without giving anything up." They condemn any and all political action really.
i mean i'm bitter because they water down a lot of my favorite philosophy to sell it to idiotic 15 year old punx but it's really a mess.
Yeah, I've never read Crimethinc, I've heard bad things about it mostly. However this idea does appeal to me, on some level. Yes, there'd be a lot of idiots there. But there are tons of idiots everywhere. However, I will admit it would probably be a better idea to go to something along these lines that has nothing to do with crimethinc.
Oh, and I thought the IWW was communist? I know i'm thinking of the first IWW that kicked bakunin out, but I thought it was still in the same vein. (Its the third now, I think). And anarcho-syndicalists want unions, although american unions are basically powerless in all the ways that matter now so I can't see why they'd want it.

My gripe sure as hell is not with unionization I am fortunate enough to work at a job where a union still has some strength.
My gripe is with the wobblies in my area; the fact that they completely avoid union heavy areas in the southern part of Dallas. These areas also happen to be minority heavy areas. When asked why they never tried to recruit in those areas they said "The people in those areas won't be open to our message." I am sorry but that sounds incredibly condescending and with a tinge of racism. Never mind the fact that they meet in a relatively upscale area that happens to be a spitting distance from SMU.

I've heard about it and it just seemed you described it perfectly.

Something very un-anarchist about organizing don't ya think?

no, not at all. anarchism is organization without hierarchy.

I liked Days of War, Nights of Love, but the Anarchist Cookbook (not the decent interent one by the Jolly Roger, the one by Crimethinc) sucks so0 bad! They believe that they can overthrow the capitalistic powerhouse by stealing things and making a vinyl stereo from a bike wheel, I kid you not. Also they don't see that they are being hypocrites for sponging of the system they hate. Would like to meet them tho, might be a laugh.
