View Full Version : Rise Against / Thrice / Alkaline Trio Fall Tour
That's right, our new record, Appeal To Reason, has been completed and will be released October 7th, 2008. As you may know, we have once again teamed up with our friends Bill Stevenson & Jason Livermore, who produced Appeal To Reason at the Blasting Room, along with their capable team of engineers. Bill & Jason are the genius' behind The Sufferer & The Witness and also the responsible for the re-mix of our first record, The Unraveling on Fat Wreck, as well as numerous other songs, including our recent cover of "Little Boxes" for the show "Weeds."
If that wasn't exciting enough, we've teamed up with some old friends for a fall tour and are hoping to bring it to your town. RISE AGAINST, ALKALINE TRIO, THRICE, THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM. We considered giving the tour some fancy name, but then realized that nothing looks or sounds as good as those four bands together, in our own humble opinion. See you this fall !

4 of my favorite bands all in one go. I hope this is a big tour, which really just means I hope this beast comes to Canada. And if not, I hope I can bribe someone to record the thing for me :P

If thrice plays before alkaline trio that would fucking suck. Not that I don't love the trio but...it's thrice.

haha rise against is easily the worst band on this bill, i'd definitely see this though

Weird lineup, but I'm not complaining.

considering thrice, alk3 and rise against are all headlining material and are big draws by themselves i don't see it being too much of a problem.

whos the headline? whats the order? this is a pretty sick set but i would hope alk3 would headline and thrice would be 2nd w/ rise against 3rd and so forth. rise against is a little more mtv than the other bands though....
edit: ehhhhh punk news said rise against is the headline. thats bullshit, alk3 just had a new album too, i blame matt and dan for not taking the initiative to plan this tour themselves

07/16/08, 09:42 PM
rise against is the most popular band, clearly they would headline. shit thrice could headline over alk3 as well.

hammerstein ballroom is only a 3200 capacity venue, and seems like no one's mentioning the gaslight anthem who are the best up and coming punk band by far, i cant wait to see this show

Is there any reviews and/or set-lists? No. Know why? Because this tour doesn't start for months. Know where this should be (and is)? In the General thread. Learn to use the forum.
Oh to the people who say it's not a big deal: Fuck off, it is. Learn to put things in the correct places.

no, but this is the place where we talk about tours and live music more than in the general thread where it'd disappear in about 5 minutes.

my only complaint is that thrice is the second band... thrice has been around way too long to be relegated to middle man duties.
I will be attending if it's within 300 miles.

If you start with the opener not the headliner, Thrice would be the second of four.
I think that's what they meant.

for all peopl wondering about order, it will probably look a little something like this:
Co-Headliners:
Alkaline Trio
Rise Against
Support:
Thrice
Openers:
The Gaslight Anthem

I'd be surprised, pretty sure Rise against would headline.
Still expect 45-50 minute from alkaline trio.
I'd rather have Thrice as direct support...

You can probably expect Rise Against to play 16, Alk3 to play 11, Thrice to play 10, and Gaslight to play 7 or so.
I just hope this tour is in massive venues around here.

Official lineup is:
Rise Against headlines
Alkaline Trio is direct support
Thrice plays 2nd every night
Gaslight Anthem opens
Rise Against decided to come up with a sweet tour, and invite their favorite bands to play, regardless of how big they all are.
Last time through Detroit, Rise Against did 1800 or so at the Fillmore (cap 2700), Alkaline Trio sold out Clutch Cargos (cap 1400), and Thrice did about 900 paid at Clutch Cargos. It's in the right order. And it's going to be a sweet, sweet tour.

it fits that thrice would be under alkaline trio if you're going by seniority. Thrice has been around since 1999ish, but Alkaline Trio started in 1996. and, I couldn't see Rise Against touring under either alkaline trio or thrice, they're the most mainstream successful of all three acts, even if they're the "newest" of the three.

yeah, but seniority doesnt decide line-up, album sales does, and besides in the last two months, i havent heard anything about alk3 in a long time, while ive heard about thrice nonstop since vheissu was released. which is why its suprising to me is all.
i didnt think thrice would chose a tour where they were so "little" on the bill, honestly. they're too respected in the scene really.

i just don't see thrice really being effective with a 45 minute max set time. not anymore anyway, unless they decide to pretty much ditch all the experimental stuff and just play their heavier tunes.
edit: not a knock on their new stuff either, i think thrice is better than ever. i just think these days they need at least an hour and a half to really showcase who they are now.

totally agree. I mean, the last time I saw them was with Brand New, but, if they're gonna keep playing the experimental stuff, people at a show lose the excitement. I mean, the new stuff is great, but live, I prefer old Thrice any day.
Hopefully all of the bands play a good mix of the old and new, I'm a big fan of Alkaline Trio's old stuff and new stuff, but the old stuff again is the top in my book.

thrice will probably do a song from each of the alchemy volumes, a couple off vheissu, 2 or 3 from TAITA, and deadbolt. i honestly don't care if they go on first or alkaline trio, either way it should be a sweet show

I'd be happy with only new stuff. I've seen all the old stuff a million times and that would filter out all the shit-chucking apes with an IQ below 50 in the crowd.

Wow... reading this thread I feel like I'm in the minorty being glad that Alkaline Trio is direct support on this.
I love Thrice to death, but Alkaline Trio has a larger back catalog and the longer set means a better chance of them mixing it up. Which would make me happy.
I actually kind of feel bad for Rise Against going on after Thrice and Alkaline Trio.... those are both hard acts to follow.

this is like the tour of bands i've been really wanting to get into but havent yet. i have tons of friends that love rise against but i havent listened to them much. i know some alk3 but not enough to go to a show and really appreciate them, and i told myself after i saw thrice with brand new that i was gonna get into them and havent yet.
i want to go to this, but dont feel i'm a big enough fan of any of the bands... and if i dont go i know i'll wish i did. hmmm.

Selling more records, selling more tickets, having more radio airplay and having basically more mainstream recognition.

im also tired of people sayin MAN THRICE'S NEW MATERIAL IS SO AWESOME, ONLY MEATHEADS LIKE THEIR OLD STUFF BLAHBLAH STOP ASKIN FOR DEADBOLT BLAHBLAH.
stop it.
Great, great tour. Haven't seen such a lineup in a long time.. maybe since Thursday/Thrice/Coheed in 2003? Or the AFI/Thursday/Coheed mini-tour in 2003 (or 2004?). Thursday/Rise Against/Billy Talent/Circa Survive 2006 tour was pretty ridiculous, though, too.
What other really great tours in the last five years have there been, I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot.

Apparently they will be playing Toronto twice (October 3rd and 4th) which is awesome. What isn't awesome is the $35 ticket price (+ surcharges) and Rise Against headlining. I can't make myself like Rise Against no matter how hard I try.
I'll probably end up going to both but leave before Rise Against at least once.

Awesome tour lineup I just hope Thrice will play more of their older stuff then newer stuff cause I am really not into Vheissu or The Alchemy Index 1 And 2 much, and as for Rise Against and Alkaline Trio I love all their stuff so anything they play will be great.
