Hey everyone, I was looking through the list of CDs coming out in the future and decided that I wanted to start a thread where people could discuss upcoming albums. Right now I'm looking forward to hearing anything off of the upcoming RX Bandits, Rise Against, Streetlight Manifesto, and Eagles of Death Metal albums. What are you all excited about?

"We are not releasing an album on October 28th this year. I know it comes from a "good source" but, as we've said in the past, the only source for accurate Streetlight info is right here. We're just as confused by this rumor as you guys (well, maybe a little less confused, but more on that later. As in "a few months from now" later)"

Well they've played some new songs on the tour they are on now, and those songs are amazing.
And I just have that much confidence in this band, and Aaron Weiss.

It's definitely not happening in 2008. I'm pretty sure it will be a winter 2009 release though. Meanwhile while we wait we can look forward t other albums this summer such as
Norma Jean "The AnitMother"
Underoath "Lost in the Sounds of Seperation"
Anberlin "New Surrender"
Jonezetta "Cruel to be Young"
The Classic Crime - "Silver Cord"
Good releases to hold us over till then, for sure.

Classic Crime and Norma Jean's CDs are the only ones on that list I'll listen to I think. Norma Jean, The Chariot, and August Burns Red are pretty much the only metal bands I still listen to, even though Underoath might require a listen. but I stopped listening to hardcore music steadily a couple years ago (actually, right after Underoath's CD came out in 06). Anberlin and Jonezetta never really interested me, to be honest. And Anberlin's live show was meh a few years ago when I saw them.

What do you see in Underoath? I mean sure I liked them when I was going through my "I Like To Listen To Shitty Music That I Think is Screamo Phase", but come on. And the only thing off of the top of my head is Taking Back Sunday, but Fear Before the March should be interesting.

what's coming on the folk frontier? i'm really not after that over saturated indie, bright eyes-esque sounding malarkey. something more... authentic, possibly with a gaelic or celtic tinge would be great. but definitely not anything along the lines of seth lakemen either haha. i don't know... recc away!
i've been checking through some of this years releases, not too much has grabbed my attention. although i'm yet to hear the new robin williamson, jim moray, capercaillie, & a few others
Yes. And?

By this point, I've given up waiting for Glassjaw. It'll come when (if?) it comes. I'd like to hear this new United Nations album, though. I know it won't be my style but whatever.

I think you'd enjoy Shallow Grave by The Tallest Man On Earth. The vocals are somewhat Dylanesque at times and the production is rather raw which gives the songs an interesting dynamic. Best thing I've heard all year. Other stuff you might enjoy (not necessarily folk):
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Lie Down In The Light
Port O'Brien - All We Could Do Was Sing
Festival - Come, Arrow Come!
The War On Drugs - Wagonwheel Blues
I finally got around to giving the Willie/Wynton collaboration a spin. It's quite good. :-)

excellent, i've been meaning to check bonnie, after hearing a lot of chatter about that album. i'll give everything a crack though, cheers mate
yea i really enjoy it. even though it's a live cover album, it still had a fresh appeal to it i thought (unlike michael mcdonald's album this year... bugger). there's not much willie can't do it seems, but wynton deserves so much more credit than he receives too

I can definitely see you getting into some Oldham. Hope you enjoy the other stuff as well.
Yeah, everyone I've discussed it with harps on Willie's contribution and gives virtually no credit to Marsalis which is a damn shame. It's probably just a matter of Willie being more known in rock circles.
