Once the downloadable roster problems for the PS3 get patched (they're supposedly beta-testing the patch right now), I want to try to start an Online Dynasty with a bunch of people. We could accommodate up to 12 players, so if you have the game, or are planning on getting it in the near future, and are interested at all, leave you PSN ID in this thread. If/once there's some real interest generated, we can discuss exactly how we want to work it.

I would. I just suck period and play for fun haha. So if you're looking for GOOD challenging players, I'm out then sorry haha. Oh that and my internet at home is blowing donkey dick right now so I'm not trying to bog anyone down.
i wouldn't worry about the skill level issues. i don't claim to be the greatest player either. besides, there are always differing skill levels within most leagues. so if your internet gets better, i'd say you should join anyways if you're interested.

yeah seriously. there's a supposedly working roster here (http://freencaa09rosters.com/), but it might not even work after the patch. so i think i'm just going to wait for the patch, assuming it's released soon.

Hey guys, I'd love to join your league. I just bought the game today and this online dynasty looks like a lot of fun! While I was really good at NCAA07, I barely played NCAA08 so I figure I'm pretty mediocre at NCAA09...

hopefully this patch is released soon. even though there is a (mostly) working roster out for PS3, i'm hesitant to start a online dynasty with it due to the fact that we don't know if it will work post-patch.

Well, as long as we're trying to be well-run, what's the policy on people who retry their games against the computer? I think it'd be neat to forbid this, so that not every team ends up 14-0.

Are we going to schedule each other for our Non-conf games? Would be kinda silly not to play each other heads-up. Also, what slider settings etc. are we planning on using? :)

yeah, sorry about that, guys. i haven't been around in a while, but i'm here now. as for rules and such, it seems like Rikus has some good ideas. i've never been too great with all that kind of stuff, so if you (Rikus) want to come up with some rules, regulations, and such, let me know. i really do want to get this under way, because i think it could be a lot of fun if done right.

Glad you're back Croc. It's also awesome to see the ACC teams filling up... we're gonna have a helluva battle every season for the ACC Atlantic division title!

I'm happy to help come up with the league rules, but I don't want to be the only one deciding everything. Anyone who's got any opinions on settings just shout them out so we can all discuss. For example, what difficulty do you guys want to play on? All-american?

Not sure what sliders adjustments we should make, especially since they won't work right until the 2nd patch lol...

Croc, I'm setting up a test dynasty right now just to run through and see what options the commissionar has. Since you asked for my help deciding on rules, I figured I would throw up a set of candidate rules on here.

It appears that these rules can be changed for the start of any new week! So we can makes adjustments as we go along.

Gameplay Options

Skill: All-American
Injuries: On
Fatigue: On
Quarter Length: 5 Minutes
Play Clock: On
Home Field Adv.: On
Ice the Kicker: ?? (This is new... any thoughts? On if no one has comments I guess)
Quiz the QB: ?? (This is new... any thoughts? On if no one has comments I guess)

Game Rules (Penalties)

All: Default (50%)

Game AI

Interceptions (User & CPU): 35%
Knockdowns (User & CPU): 65%
All the Rest: Default (50%)

This seems similar to a problem with last year's game: the defenders intercept the ball way more than they should. So, I suggest reducing interception but increasing knockdowns to compensate. Everything else seems reasonably balanced on all-american so far, except maybe the CPU being able to kick 60 yard FGs with a mediocre kicker... hmm

By the way, have you gotten ahold of a decent roster for us?

The only thing that has to be set BEFORE making the online dynasty is the roster. If you've got a named roster, I see no reason not to create the dynasty immediately. Be sure to load the roster file just before creating the dynasty though - it doesn't ask you which roster to use during the creation process. Of course don't let it auto-name either. :)

If the roster's good, go ahead and make it and we can figure out the rest as we go.

One other thing that I brought up earlier was the issue of people repeating the same game against the CPU. Apparently the commissioner has the power to view how often this happens and throw out games (they are simulated instead) if he suspects cheesing. I can't confirm that the commish has these powers, since there is no one else in my test dynasty.

Assuming the commish can see this, I see no reason to be draconian about that stuff. We can be laid-back and use a 1-restart-per-week no questions asked policy.

This will cover gameplay interruption cases such as:
"Power outage"
"Spilled soda on the console"
"My dog ate it"
"I was dead at the time"

Replay your game more than once, and the default action will be to throw out the result and sim it instead. Of course it will be up to Croc if you have a reasonable enough excuse...

awesome, really appreciate the help, man. i've got a solid roster from Lanteri87's EA locker; and i tried to set this up today, but my wireless connection was being sketchy and disconnecting at random times. i'll probably try again tomorrow, but if it keeps doing it, then it might be better for someone else (Rikus perhaps? if he's game) to take the reigns, and i'll just join as a regular member so as not to run into any problems down the road.

Has anyone sent out invites? I am already getting tired of all the same guys in the quick games, I have played tge same guy three times, last 2 were unranked, I could be 19-7 but no gay unranked. Anyways he only does the same thing, passes deep on my base defence, not gonna say :P. I user pick everytime, that is what everyone does, I send them a msg warning them not to throw deep and that is all they do. Lets get this going, I have 2 APF leagues I am running, so get it going quick please.

Alright since Croc has been having wireless troubles and everyone is getting antsy, I decided to set up the Dynasty today and sent out the invites. Everyone should have gotten one by now except for:

4. livethesounds (cbow52) - Texas Longhorns --- it said cbow52 does not have an EA account.

Everybody should be set up with the right team, though there is still time to change teams. Some of us are scheduled to play 4-5 humans during the season while others only 1. We can change the schedules to feature more human matchups for these players if you want. I'd like to point out that I've chosen the lowest-rated and lowest-ranked school of the group, so I'll make a good target. :D

Oh and I used the same roster that croc was gonna use. It looked pretty good, only saw one player with an incorrect name on my team.

You can AIM me with questions at the same name as my forum login.

once again, sorry for the lag-time on this whole thing. like Rikus said, i've been having some problems with connections. my wireless seems fine, but for some reason the EA servers randomly sign me out sometimes.

and thanks for setting this up, man. it seems like you have more experience with this stuff anyways, so maybe it's for the best. i just wanted to get people together for this, so i'm more than happy to let you take the reigns.

p.s. i know i have Michigan after my name in the first post, but if it's not too much of a hassle, i think i'll switch back to Syracuse. and yes, i know this would cause me to surpass Rikus as the worst school in the group; but hey, building a team is what dynasty is all about, right?

and in regards to cbow; i got the same error. and the "gt" he put before his name leads me to believe that he actually owns an Xbox360, and just neglected to realize that this would be on PS3.

what a first game...4 INT's and a fumble for my QB who could not hit his target and when he did have a nice long pass the WR dropped it, only 40 rushing yards although he did have 2 TD's from my star RB and yet we win comfortably 35-14.

Had an INT for TD, a fumble for a TD and a punt return for a TD.

Nash, I was wondering how you got such a high score with no offense! Reading some of the comments from the other players in their first game - a lot of INTs, tough D ... yet a lot of you seem to be scoring on defense/special teams (the kick coverage will be improved in the next patch).

Okay, so at least I'm not the only one who thinks that passing has become pretty ridiculous in this game. If you watch the replays, you'll see that only the defender breaks on the ball most of the time. Unless you take control of him, the receiver will barely make any effort to catch the ball. It's so frustrating! Once the next patch comes out and the sliders work properly, we should make some adjustments until it feels more realistic. In the meantime, I've resorted to throwing mostly short passes to WIDE open receivers... WC is painful, but it works.

haha, thanks. i'm working on some solid recruits for next season. ;-)

i returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, only to have it called back for holding. at the beginning of the 4th quarter it was 10-0. i forced a fumble on 2nd and goal, and ran it back for a TD, only to have it called back again after they reversed the call with replay. then they scored the next play on a QB sneak. after that, it was pretty much all-or-nothing plays for me. that, combined with my D's general lack of tackling skills, made for an ugly final quarter.

by the way, my QB also threw (i think) 3 picks. so it's good to know i'm not alone on that, at least.

You'll be seeing some picks thrown by me, too (if history is any indicator). Also, I've seen them review and then overturn plays where they clearly made the right call the first time - and it always seems to be in the CPU's favor. It's so frustrating!

Just wondering, with all of the reports of tough Defense and tons of INT's, did you adjust the sliders for the defense? Because that was by far the hardest All-American level game that I have played on 09. I was throwing picks left and right and was down most of the game, but then finally came on in the 4th quarter b/c I got some turnovers of my own.

Actually I turned DOWN the interception slider because I know it happens way too much - but this won't do us any good until the next (2nd) patch comes out. Apparently there is a bug with the sliders and this will be fixed in the patch. Another thing I'm looking forward to in the patch is better kickoff coverage.

good I thought it was only me who was going to have a horrible pass rating. Everytime I threw the ball more than 10 yards my receiver didnt even try for it while the CB or S ran 10x faster and picked it off, I finally gave up and tried to wear the defense down by pounding the ball but even McKnight couldnt find any running room against an inferior team.

Luckily USC has the best defense in the game and playing defense is my favorite part, or else we would have opened the season 0-1.

Recruiting seems a lot more challenging online, should be interesting!

Nash, you're noticing the exact same thing in passing that I did: the receiver doesn't TRY for the ball, but the defender does. I've been limiting myself to short passes.

Can I just say that they really under-rated BC's DL in this game? It sucks! In real life, we had the #1 run defense last (regular) season and are rated by some (e.g. Athlon sports) in the top 5 DLs in the country. In NCAA09, the line is rated pretty poor. Makes my defense very vanilla. At least my offense is scoring, unlike everybody else :D

Alright, we're in week 3. This week brings up the first human/human match and what a clash of the titans it promises to be as Nash and USC takes on Scooter and OSU. In another notable game this week, justwentblack and Syracuse seek to upset #12 Penn State.
i'm just hoping it doesn't turn into a bloodbath. but an upset would be quite nice.

because of the security features on invisionfree boards, you can only use one skin at a time. but i changed it to a skin that i think should be easier on the eyes for everyone.

and as for the scheduling problems, i agree with you. it's different if someone has told everyone that they're just busy. but if a person seems to be blatantly ignoring attempts to get a game played, then it becomes detrimental to the continued success of the league.

yeah, has anyone had to re-do their game when it was finished? I completed my game against Ohio State and then when it was loading the dynasty screen it said "changes have been made to your dynasty, you will need to restart" and then it kicked me off the dynasty and made me reload it and it acted like the game was never played and I had to replay, luckily I had enough time before work!

So I attended my first real football game this year, Uconn/Hofstra, and it looked just like a game out of NCAA09 because Tyler Lorenzen threw 3 bad INTs! Yikes... not sure what'll happen to them against a real team.

Waiting is one thing, but not responding to messages or posting you're busy is another. We all have lives too, and it's not enjoyable to try and schedule a small game of online football for 4 days

Also, if you are 28 years old, what kind of "real" football are you playing besides the Madden 09 lobby I always see you in ;)

wow, dude. seriously, chill the fuck out.

the biggest killer of any online league is inactivity, especially at the beginning. we can't be waiting almost a week to get a game scheduled, or else we'll lose even more people due to loss of interest.

if you've got "real football" to play, that's fine; but we can't put the entire league on hold for you. i understand you're upset, but to be honest, it's only one game. it's not the end of the world. so if you're willing to suck it up and continue, you're more than welcome to stick around. if not, that's fine, too. after all, it is just a "dumb game."

Okay I just played my first FCS team, and I had to start putting backup players in at halftime. My vote is that we don't schedule any FCS teams from season 2 onward. It's just a waste of a perfectly good week! We can just play each other on those weeks instead. Who's with me?

i'm gonna type up a game summary of the champs sports bowl, as me and cristufer do it.

i win the toss, i want the ball. i normally don't do this but i want to score. my first possession is a methodical drive down the field, 4 and 5 yards at a time. Wake gets stuffed on 3rd and short at midfield, but a fake punt, direct snap to the back works like a charm, and the Deacs continue down the field. A goal line stand by Michigan results in the Deacs taking just 3 points from this drive.

3-0 Wake

Michigan takes the ball and drives down the field on the legs on their HB. A dropped pass in the endzone results in the Wolverines only getting a field goal.

3-3 Tie

Wake gets the ball back with just a couple minutes left in the Half, but they take it slow and mix it up with runs and short passes, getting all the way down to the Michigan goalline with only 20 seconds left in the half. A QB sneak from the 1 puts the first Touchdown of the day on the board, with about 15 seconds left.

10-3 Wake

Michigan wants to tie it up before the half, so they start gunslinging. The first pass is tipped and intercepted, and wake has a the ball at midfield with time for one more play. Everyone is covered, and so the short pass is made to the Tight End, no where near the endzone. Thats the half.

10-3 Wake at Halftime

Michigan gets the opening kickoff, and starts the drive off with a HB dive out of the shotgun.

AND THEN THE GAME FREEZES

it says: " The connection with your opponent was lost " !! what the fuck. so im back in the lobby, and it says cristufer is no longer online. so he's not even online for me to restart the game with. I don't know who's connection fouled up, but I was still in the lobby, and it said he wasnt.

im not waiting again to play, so if the commisioner wants to just sim the game, or let me play the CPU Michigan, thats fine. The lag during the whole game was almost unbearable. I would rather Wake lose on the simulation than wait around for this to happen again
