There's a Robocop sequel that's apparently in the works with non other than Darren Aronofsky currently in talks to direct. Here is the current logline for the movie: Present day Los Angeles, 20 years after the termination of the RoboCop program, the city decides to reinstate the program
Here's a teaser poster they released.

Yeah the original Robocop is one of my favorite movies so I'm happy they're not doing a reboot of the series. If they do get Aronofsky to do it, it could be very interesting.

i don't know how a modern robocop would be. there's something about a robot cop in the 80's that just makes more sense.

yea it just really depends on what direction they try to take this. if they don't try to take themselves too seriously this could be great.

I don't know how to feel about this yet... Robocop is one of my top 3 favorite movies ever...I feel like a modern re-make would just be sort of dumb....I'll definitely see it though.

And since when did Los Angeles terminate the RoboCop program? What the fuck happened to Detroit?

It's supposedly a sequel and not a reboot or anything.

the one line summary pretty much says it's a reboot.

MGM has confirmed that Darren Aronofsky will direct the upcoming Robocop sequel/reboot. David Self (Road to Perdition) is tapped to write a script, which is rumored to take place in “Present day Los Angeles, 20 years after the termination of the RoboCop program, the city decides to reinstate the program.” Phoenix Pictures’ co-presidents Brad Fischer and David Thwaites say it will be “an entertaining and provocative film,” which might be a stab at rumors of a possible PG-13 version. The film is being fast tracked for a 2010 release.

Directed by anyone else, I wouldn't be the slightest bit interested.

Why, Aronofsky, why?Because he might actually have a chance of making this a good movie. It's be interesting to see what his take on this would be like. I'd love to see what he can do with action, especially after he almost got the job doing a Batman movie.
