This is not relevant to music, but seeing as how this is one of the biggest "scene" movies out there I thought some of you would enjoy this. If you didn't already know, Donnie Darko - The Director's Cut is going to be released in theaters soon. You can watch the trailer below:

No, "scene" is correct. Ask any scene kid if they like this movie...I can almost guarantee you it's their favorite movie.

i completely disagree. considering people have been studying those philosophies for years and still do not completely grasp it. i think you are completely out of your mind to say that you have to be an idiot to not understand it. read some of hawking's material. a brief history in time. you wouldnt get past page one without having to do a double take. mmhmm. cool.

Your sig is from my all-time favorite movie. Add that to the list of 'scene' movies. You all better know what that's from.

"Fight Club." Awesome movie, I must say, but the book kicks its ass. Palahniuk is some kind of demented genius. Fincher did a nice job translating text to film, though.
And anyway. "Donnie Darko" was alright -- the Director's cut will probabaly be awesome. However, I think someone is trying to cash in on Jake's new claim to fame (going off the push from "The Day After Tomorrow"). But whatever, a good movie is a good movie, ulterior motives regardless.

his new claim to fame? donnie darko was released 3 years ago, man. since then, he's been in plenty of big movies...including Moonlight Mile and The Good Girl. Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies of all time, and i'll see this DC for sure

dont forget October Sky. i find is hilariously pathetic that Hot Topic is now making money off of this movie by having new shirts with "wake up donnie" or frank the bunny images on them. did they start having these shirts 3 years ago when it came out? no. now, because it is scene. kids think that by watching this movie and owning it in their collection they have intelligent merit. half of my friends that have watched it dont understand a damn thing about the movie but bought it because they thought that it was cool. its pathetic. fight club, goonies, requiem for a dream. all great movies, but overly displayed in the "scene." i remember first watching these movies, well not goonies because i was a little too young, but the others and they were great. now that these other movies come into play (forgot to mention that palahniuk is incredible, cant wait for them to make "Invisible Monsters" into a movie) it seems like they loose their special vibes and become just another mainstream movie. i mean, granted its great when films are watched, but it comes to a point when you have the most annoying and moronic 12 year olds sporting Darko and Fight Club soap shirts, never even having seen the movies.
and on a side note, anyone know what the hell is even going to be different from the new release than the previous? or are they just realizing that they can make a shitload more money off of children?

It's a Director's Cut meaning their is added footage / scenes not seen before.

They're actually first releasing it just in Seattle, and if it does well up there (which it obviously will) they'll release it to the rest of the country. That's what I heard last anyway.
And yea, all that scene stuff is retarded, but I love this movie regardless. I'm not gonna do that "OMG, it's huge and in Hot Topic now, and Jake is in major movies and one of Teen People's 50 hottest people in the world! This movie now sucks." It's just so different, original, relatable and all that stuff. I can't wait to see it on the big screen.
I have yet to see Fight Club the movie, but I've read the book and it's seriously one of the best books I've read in a long time. You all should read it. I'm reading Invisible Monsters right now, and it's great too.

Its always been intended to be released July 18th nationwide. It just premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival on May 29th. Its funny the people who like Donnie just because they hear its cool. I know someone who said she thought it was the best movie ever, and I got her to confess she had never seen it. Sad. However, its one of my top 5 or 6 movies ever, so I'm excited for the directors cut. A lot of the scenes are deleted scenes from the DVD but its reedited and a lot of the new stuff (Including pages from the Philosophy of Time Travel) sounds awesome. I can't wait.

Dont forget bubble boy!!! haha jk but anyways I personally love donnie darko and I think its a great movie. I saw it and feel in love with before I knew it was a "scene" movie so dont give me that crap. The soundtrack, casting, and overall story are all wonderful.
Also I read the reason why it is being re-released is because it initially only made 500k in the theaters and since being released on DVD has obviously blown up. I really hope it isnt just the deleted scenes placed in the movie, but I doubt it will be
all i can say is yaa for living in tacoma...and being able to see it tomorrow night.
And it has been doing well...i was down at the grand(an art house theater in tacoma) the other night seeing super size me(great movie by the way) and it was packed out if i'm not mistaken.

requiem of a dream is scene? does that mean i can't like it. it was an extremely depressing movie, but so well written. fuck if its scene or not because that movie just kicked ass.

Yeah, i know somebody who though goodfellas was the best movie ever. They bought posters and everything from spencers to put all around their room, some girl asked him questions about the movie and he couldn't answer them, it was pretty funny. HE also had sublime and a poster of Bob Marley Smoking a joint even though he didnt listen to either of the two bands.
Anyways...i havent seen Donnie Darko, maybe i should.

it's been planned on being released for a while now, way before jake and his new found fame in A Day After Tomorrow (which was the only reason i saw ADAT was cuz of jake was in it). the movie was suppose to be released in june and in new york and some other places and now i'm pissed cuz i was hoping to see it when i went to new york. but yeah, i don't really care if it's a scene movie. my friend heard it was good so we rented it once a long time ago. we were fucked up and i was so damn confused and half awake but i saw it again. one thing i really like is how the music really fits the movie. i didn't think a lot of people liked it til i saw a donnie darko shirt in hot topic and now talking about it on absolutepunk.net. i just bought it a month ago...waste of money since i'll get it again if it comes out with a director's cut. haha not to mention 3 of my friends just bought it too
